I thought it was funny that a Canadian band used an image on their album cover of a washed up and destroyed amusement pier on the Jersey Shore. When I first saw that I was like “Is that Casino Pier after Sandy?” And it definitely is.

I think they started shifting more towards a Thrashier style on Today’s Empires and probably even more with each album?

Pretty much. I think their heaviest album is probably Failed States which is the second most recent album.

The list no one asked for of my ranking of their albums since Today’s Empire:

1.) Supporting Caste
2.) Potemkin City Limits
3.) Failed States
4.) Victory Lap
5.) Today’s Empire, Tomorrow’s Ashes

I’m about 30 mins into the Boudreau interview on Chiclets and it’s absolute cinema. What a great dude.
I feel bad for always trashing him in the past. I was mainly rebelling against the notion that Boudreau is the main reason for the success of the teams he coached and that he didn't catch on (usually) with really good teams.

He definitely proved he was no dummy when he took over for Travis Green, who really is a dummy at NHL coaching.

I also gave him the nickname Santa Claus, which a lot of people took the wrong way and thought I was taking a shot at his weight. It wasn't that, as much as the fact that he looked to me exactly like what I'd imagine Santa Claus to look like if he were clean shaven. He looks like Santa with no beard, no hat and no big read suit.

garage repair guys just left.

980 bucks for a torsion spring and two cables

f*** me
If I still had any contact left with my dad I could have asked him if that was a fair price or not. That's what he does/did.

He's in pretty decrepit shape physically from doing it all those years.

Hi @JimEIV - I was wondering suggestions for my stepfather who is difficult to purchase gifts for. He does enjoy fly fishing and I wondered if you knew of anything that a fly fisherman might want but might not buy himself - something an occasional fly fisher might not have (but someone who tends to buy himself nicer things even if he only occasionally does it)
So many things...but first you have to know what type of fly fisherman he is...for instance, a great gift idea is a landing net. But if he is a saltwater fly fisherman a trout landing would be no use to him. So knowing his targeted species and what does most is important.

But staying generic there are various different packs, I'm partial to sling packs, technical clothing, tools like forceps and nippers... saltwater fisherman need pliers and you can spend a little or lot on a high end pair of saltwater pliers.

Fly assortments are an option if you know his target species. A good trout streamer assortment is a great gift that I have personally given a couple of times.

If he ties flies we can be here days going over useful tying materials.

But a good pair of nippers is always a nice item that someone might not buy for himself. Some people use cheap pairs and don't care to spend money on nice ones. Some people think it's ridiculous to spend $100+ dollars on what amount to fancy fingernail clippers to cut line.

But you can get a very nice pair of Dr. Slick Cyclone Nippers for $25. Abel and Hatch nippers are the highest end and pushing close $150. Simms makes a nice pair as well in the $100 range.

Every trout fisherman could use a nice net. I've been eyeing a Fishpond Nomad carbon net for a while... it would be a bit of a frivolous purchase as already have a perfectly fine net but those carbon nets are really nice and they run around $135.

Thank you - he's a river fly fisherman, so this really helps a lot - I really appreciate it.

I hate when junkie friends have you on the phone, get a beep and take another call and let you stay on the phone for 15 minutes before you just hang up because you’re so bored and can’t use the phone to do other things (like watch Devils post game interviews) when you’re in a call with someone.

And still don’t text you back to tell you “sorry it’s a long call”. And to top it off can’t hear half the shit you’re saying on the phone because they’re so concerned by what time the dope man is gonna get there, which is probably who was calling.

f***ing rude and inconsiderate. I’m the idiot for allowing to happen though.

Happy Thanksgiving in the US to all who celebrate. I am currently resting on a heating pad having strained my right lower back exercising this morning. If I don’t loosen up enough to help my wife get the food and house together for all the guests she will probably smother me in my sleep with a pillow. Or maybe she just shoots me in front of the kids as a warning to them. Pray the Advil works.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and the rest of the American posters!

Sorry to hear about back. That’s the kind of stuff that happens when we get old(er) right?

Hope the heating pad helps.

I’m on the train heading back from my uncle’s house in Connecticut as I post this. All the usual stuff plus a family kugel recipe. He lives in a home on Woodbridge with one of his daughters, her husband, and their two kids. We invited all of them to our in-person wedding a year and a half ago, and the younger of the two kids still won’t shut up about the chicken masala we had as one of the dishes there. So my wife reached out to the caterer for a recipe. In fairness, it was very good.

Last night, I made the pozole paste for my turkey rub. I rehydrated some ancho, guajillo, and árbol chiles, put them in a blender with some garlic, and reheated the paste. Then I put the turkey in a bowl of water, put some kosher salt in the water and on the turkey, and slathered on the paste. Since it only half-covers the turkey, I turn it over a couple times a day. I might make some more paste tonight or tomorrow morning. This was what it looked like going into the fridge last night- I can’t wait to see how it’s going.

What does this taste like? It looks interesting.

It looks like it could have a smoky BBQ type of flavor.

Apparently Twitter thinks I need a prayer and meditation app. Every f***ing time I log in I get the same ad like every third post. Apparently "I don't like this ad" means they'll show it to you even more. The place where the sky is blue is looking better all the time.
