Thoughts on Troy Terry

He has impressed me with his mitts every time I have watched the ducks - what is the issue with the ducks powerplay? I thought/think zegras will be a powerplay savant. Are they bad at entries?

He's a creator.

He is great at attacking the defender's triangle ('of all time' is...a lot).

I think he's under appreciated and also does a lot of what he does either on his own or while being the only offensively threatening line along with Zegras.

I think as the Ducks team improves the secret will be out and can see him having 3 or 4 80+ point years as long as the Ducks don't stay terrible (and their prospect list says they shouldn't, but practice isn't always the same as theory).

He's Anaheim's best player. idk how much that really says about him, but he's a very good player. He'd be the best winger on more than a dozen teams.

He’s good and can potentially break out this year.

Just as a Kings fan I’ve noticed Habs fans don’t seem to like Ducks players. Any reason for this?

Uh, career high of 67 points and about to turn age 26.

Good player, but I think he kind of is what he is as a 65-point guy and he seems younger than he actually is because he took a long time before he stuck in the NHL.
He's averaged a 34 goal 72 point pace over the last 2 seasons (145gp), so he's not "a 65 point guy"
Peaked already. 50-60 point guy. Way overpaid .
He's 25 years old and coming off back to back 70+ point pace seasons.

Now Suzuki, he's overpaid.

From what I can tell, there are some Habs fans that are real salty about Zegras being better than Caufield and Suzuki.

Someone has to score on bad teams. But good for him. Nice to see late draft picks succeed. The Beagle fight was a little embarrassing for him and Zegras but whatever.

The 4 inch tax cost him 19M.

I never trust anyone with a first name for a last name

I love that Terry just doesn't give a f*** about attacking defensemen head on. I feel like NHLers are so used to guys trying to go wide or stop on the wall that they're caught off-guard when a guy throws a nice 1-2 head fake in open ice.

I feel like Kings fans don't really count in the "underrated" talk though. Most of us I suspect watch plenty of Ducks games even aside from Ducks-Kings tilts. I'm excited to see Drysdale again this year too.

Are you actually quibbling about the difference between 65/67 and 70? He's been stuck on one of the worst teams in the league. I think that with some more talent around him him getting another 3-5 points isn't exactly a huge stretch.

I'm quibbling with the '80' number.

He's 26 and has never been anywhere close to that. If someone called him a 'legitimate 65-70 point player', sure.

Kind of crazy to see how good he's gotten. One of my good friends played with him in junior and always told me how much better he was than everyone when they played. Cool to see someone like that become a legit fringe top line NHL talent.

Good now, but high probability he falls off quicker than most. He doesn't have any tangibles to suggest he'd be a good 3rd or 4th liner when he declines. Similar to James Neal.
He’s not just an offensive player. He’s actually good defensively, so if his offense goes away, he could be a bottom 6 player. He’s nothing like James Neal in that regard.

"I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about" would have been a more concise and accurate statement.
Yeah, he's such a well rounded player with 30 hits, 0 shorthanded points and a faceoff percentage of 32% in 274 NHL games.

I would gladly take a few players with terrys puck hound mentality on a third line. No doubt about it.
