Thoughts on Alex Faust as a PBP Guy?

He's tolerable on national broadcasts, but still poor. Him and Fox together make me seek out almost every other broadcasting team in the league

The one guy I would remove from the team, is Derek Armstrong...nice guy and all, but says the dumbest things every time he's on.
What the hell was the comment he made on a broadcast a few months ago "I have no teeth". lol. wtf?
He really brings nothing.

I like Carrlyn Bathe ok and actually appreciate she played hockey. Sometimes, a bit too much
of "take us back to your goal and tell us about it" Need some different questions...BUT, this is not a hate thing or put down,
but this year she went heavy on some kind of facial gloss? Don't know what the heck that is or some new cosmetic thing,
but some women go so heavy on salon / spa / makeover treatments, it really detracts from a more natural look. She's good looking
naturally and it looks like her entire face is lip glossed. Don't get it.

The org. needs to keep looking. They need to listen to and/or view the tapes of Bob Miller from the early 1970s through to the late 1980s/early 1990s and use his energy, style, and professionalism as the mold for finding the next guy. There was always something about Bob that he did for the bulk of his career as the voice of our team. Bob Miller, maybe not in his final decade (age & stuff) , but ALL the time before that, seemed like he was always trying really, really, really hard to put on the best performance possible, even if our team on the ice was just phoning it in. And that work ethic (in the early days, anyway) rubbed off on the people around him. Jim Fox used to try, really, really, really hard. These days, Fox is more-or-less phoning it in with his college buddy Faust and we've got these two slouchy goof-offs that make me wanna change channels.

Seriously, back in 1986, if it hadn't had been for Bob Miller's voice describing the action, I don't think I would have become a King's fan. The current voices make me wanna split.

I assume he means that all his front teeth are fake.

I like to estimate when a Kings promo video was done if Doughty still has his front teeth. It's been a while now.
 
I’m fine with the broadcast team, although I think Fox has tried to step up since Miller left, and comes off as being overly talkative. It doesn’t help that we’re watching a shitty product while listening to them.

Following Bob leads to unfair comparisons. I don’t mind Faust, as others have said there is potential there, I also like Fox. However I really dislike them together, they don’t mix and the contrast doesn’t work either. Hot and cold can work, rough and smooth can work but cold and smooth is just weird.

I think due to the respect he had around the league, these guys agreed to help him out and it was great hearing them call the game. I really wished they offered Strangis the job for at least a couple of seasons because he worked well with Fox and I liked his PBP style. I absolutely loved Strangis and I think he's underrated, one of the best I've ever heard. Witty, sharp, on the ball, and unique voice. Was bummed he didn't stick. The others are great but didn't seem to 'fit' here either.

Kerry Fraser's hair and Jim Fox's hair will usher in a new earth era.

I liked Strangis the most as well and hoped he would get the job.

The Kings though, much like with Rob Blake, had to move quick on the next greatest thing to happen to the position and scooped up Faust.

That said, Faust is much better on the national broadcasts but the fact that the games are better helps immensely. The Kings games are so boring that you find yourself listening to Fox/Faust more than you should have to instead of them just seamlessly melting into the game.

Let's be real here: I think all of us know what's happening on the ice at this point without Faust having to tell us that there is a delayed penalty or, honestly, what the penalty is for. That's part of why everyone here is so hard on him: we know which player has the puck by their skating stride and what hand they shoot with because we are psychos. Of course, you'd expect the same from the guy tasked with describing the game to the non-psychos so criticism here is warranted.

Kings could save money by ditching the broadcast crew entirely and playing a looped narration throughout every game instead -

"Kings can't keep it in."
"Shoulder fake and the shot misses wide."
"Brown blows both tires and falls on his ass in the neutral zone."
"Kings fan on it."
"Uh oh, Quick is 10 feet from the net and playing the puck. Everyone look away!"
"Kings offense is bottom five in the league."

"McFlurry minute!"
"Scan QR code to pre-order our dog calendar."
"This offense is ruff ruff ruff Jim!"
"Kings are being outshot 4 to 1 but the game is much closer than the score shows so far."

How could you leave out -- "Kings with too many men on the ice."
or "Wagner on a breakaway, save by _____."
 
If Faust gets gobbled up by someone else I'm available! I know I've annoyed the hell outta some people around here but I have what Faust could never have the experience of having been a Kings fan for 50 years! Put that in your pipe or smoke a fatty

This might be the single event in the universe that could cause me to be a Ducks fan.
