Thornton's Beard

Weren't Thornton and Burns growing these beards all season though? Kinda cheating.

That's what I said! Hockey gods haven't appropriately smote them yet for cheating on the playoff beards.

But they're glorious, so I'm conflicted.

Just consider the "playoff beard" the part that grew from the start of the playoffs to now. It's still pretty impressive looking at how it was at the beginning and what it is now.

at what stage will the beard negatively affect his performance

Seriously, one would imagine at a certain length you may start to not be able to see the puck in your feet when attempting to look down for it.

I am specifically cheering for Joe Thronton's beard in the final and would love to see a goal deflect off the beard and in!...does it have a name? It should have one imo

A beard in terms of manliness, masculinity, ruggedness or toughness should merely complement what's already there or underneath.

Those guys are tough, manly, can do and are doing the business. All beard to them.

Some guys seem to do beards for all the wrong reasons. If you need to do it to try and prove something to others or project masculinity that might otherwise not be readily apparent then it's not a good look.

Some guys with facial hair just look ridiculous, akin to those skinny boys with bum fluff moustaches who get a tattoo to try and look or be manly, because they lack other avenues or currency to project such.

I don't know what this means but I agree with every single word of it.

Does anyone know the average weight/height for these teams?

I don't recall beards weight/height ever being measured. I wouldn't be against it...

Does anyone know what's Thornton's Beard twitter?

Man, what a beard. Wow. One of the best playoff beards I've ever seen.

750x422

Reminds self to cut toe nails

Beard stays, though.

Love the beard, obviously he has been growing it all season. But for comedic purposes, when Backes grabbed the beard and pulled on it during the WCF, that was epic trolling, lol.

As one who has a beard longer than Thornton's, this is really a non-issue. When you look down the beard just presses against your neck/chest, visibility is totally fine.

Fear the beards, Pens. Burns' could use some clean up, but Thornton's is glorious. +1 for hoping for beard deflections

You and I are on the same page.

He might as well walk around wearing a t-shirt that says "If you think my face is hairy, you should see my ass!"

you cannot shave in playoffs, no rule stipulates one must be clean shaven before hand

Yes it does. That was the original playoff beard. :teach:

It doesn't ****ing matter though. Although the guys that grow their beards before the playoffs look like they are trying too hard. (I don't really count Burns or Joe in this since they'd been growing it long before.)

If you're a beard guy, then you shouldn't be expected to shave and start again at playoff time, but if you're not a beard guy, it's not as cool if you're just doing it for the playoffs and need to start early to get there.

Thornton and Burns made a pact to not shave until they've won a Cup.
