I would assume the Kings will be pretty comfortable rolling with Zatkoff and Budaj unless the injury turns out to be horrific.

Which it probably will, because Kings.

If Quick is out long-term AND Z&B don't manage it... enh. Who knows? Maybe wait for Matt Murray to get healthy and get Condon instead.

I know this would never happen but with the Islanders 3 headed goalie monster, we should loan Berube to LA so he gets some playing time under the conditions we can get him back on our roster anytime we need him(injuries) or have a potential trade lined up

ya let's subject Budaj to waivers again so he can play backup to zatkoff for 15 games all banking on geting waiver claim on condon... great asset management.

it's better asset management than paying at least a 3rd to bring in a guy only to have to waive someone later again anyway.

Where Budaj is an important piece in the Kings system he's not a young goalie. He's allowing the team to develop goalies while he holds the fort in Ontario. But calling him up to play is also exactly why the team has him. He's a vet.

exactly. Also most teams have their two goalies locked in during the season. So it is less likely Budaj gets claimed if/when he gets sent back down mid season than in pre-season.

Another option for LA would be to sign either UFA's Kari Ramo or Anders Lindback, I think their the only two UFA goalies that are still available.

what's the word on Lindback anyway? Last I heard he had a PTO with Devils but nothing since then. Chances of him signing with them?

I think they just gave him a PTO as a courtesy so he can show he can play and sign elsewhere. There was no shot of him sticking with the Devs, or even Albany. They have Wedgewood and Kinkaid fighting for backup duty, with the loser starting in Albany. They're set in goal (both positions) for years to come.

I would imagine the Kings would just roll with Zaktoff/Budaj unless both flounder and Quick's injury doesn't get better. I suppose it's worth noting that the Kings tried to sign Greiss during the 2015 offseason but he signed with the Islanders since he figured he wouldn't get much playing time behind Quick.

I don't think we could afford him, but if Zatkoff and Budaj are just terrible, I could see a move being made. It's sounding eerie, like 2013-2014-esque with Quick, seems like the 3-month deal with Jones/Scrivens.

Isles are not trading either goalie for just a middling draft pick. They're in win now mode. If there's a trade, the goalie will be part of a package for real NHL talent.

Is Dwight King or Kyle Clifford of any use, I like both but we have an overload of bottom 6 guys and replacements ready. Salaries are close and we could throw a later pick in? No idea what your needs are? Cliffy makes the Martin loss sting a bit less.

LA will hold the fort with Zatkoff and Budaj until Quick returns.

I can see this happening. I have written off this year as a reloading year for the Kings. D/L has to reload the prospect cupboard, and if smart ship out some of the long term bottom 6 contracts. We have glaring holes on defence and centre that have to be properly addressed. I would rather spend prospects, players and picks to do that than address the goalie situation. A stronger defence will help as much as a slightly stronger goalie unless we are trading from an area of strength like bottom 6 wingers.

Isles also have plenty of bottom 6 guys. They would package the goalie to get legit top 6 wing. Martin was replaced with Chimera.
