Even last night, with Chabot on they were +16 for shot attempts. Nobody on the team was close. The other D pairings were in the -10 range. We provide offense and play in the other teams zone when he’s on, when he’s off we get absolutely caved at even strength.

Him on and off the ice has been such a contrast, they legitimately provide zero offensive capabilities with him off the ice at even strength.

With him on the ice and without him on the ice is complete opposites with regards to how the play is going.

I’m all for sending him, and every single guy on the the roster not named Sanderson or Stutzle packing. This core is broken, and poorly built.
Personally, I think that is as much about Jensen as it is about Chabot. So many times, it was an outlet pass from Jensen that resulted in a goal. We need to find another Jensen.

The crazy thing is that we all know he wouldn't have those numbers if we had brought him back.

So what exactly is the problem with this group where any kind of talent and ability is totally stunted?

Why does this keep happening?
Also Goalies lol

Casual fans in general don't necessarily understand the game of hockey

That blogger is ranking Chabot among Sens players but not sure why, when he should be compared to other NHL D-men. Also, not sure why looking at "all strengths", it's ES + PP + PK all mixed up. A player playing a lot of PP but no PK is going to be advantaged and vice-versa

5V5 :

17:47 ATOI (49th)
59.28 xGF% (5th)
58.01 CF% (9th)
54.19 HDCF% (49th)
58.93 GF% (45th)
2.96 xGF/60 (20th)
2.03 xGA/60 (23rd)

Ya I don’t get the few posters who said, get him off the team (this year).

Narratives are hard to kill, people in general don't follow this closely enough to notice.

Coach needs to set a rule for Chabot. You only pass in the direction you are skating. Great offensive game but some of those passes where he was skating one way and passing the other were brutal.

So much fun watching the return of Chabot this year.
He’s once again an absolute transition machine.
We saw his good and bad tonight I thought.

Good skating, but slow decisions and processing of plays. His giveaway in OT right in front of Ullmark almost led to us losing.

Overall he is so much better, but man...he had a few really bad bone headed plays.

Yes. Knowing when to slow the game down, and knowing when to move quick and make those snap decisions...still a work in progress for Thomas. But he is getting better at it this season.

It's funny, because caps fans were saying Jensen was done, you could argue he's done wonders for Jensen... Or perhaps more accurately, they've done wonders for each other.
He played 100+ min with 5 different partners last season wich didn't help
He was very good the year before with Orlov

Yeah I think they help each other. Jensen wasn’t the same when they paired him with Kleven for a bit.

Both guys benefit from a regular partner. Chabot played 100+ with 4 different partners last year, he'd always looked good with Zub and before that DeMelo, but has been seeing a rotation of guys like Zaitsev, Chychrun, Hainsey, Brannstrom, JBD that are either bad fits or overslotted.

hes been awesome

always knew he would be good once they actually gave him players to play with

best defensemen on our team this year
I would say Jensen has been just as good. An example of 2 guys pairing up that make each other better.
