There’s always “what ifs” and “if only’s”. The Oilers could have blown them out in game 1 but Bobrovsky stole that one. If only they didn’t have a 5.5 minute meltdown in game 3 when it was 1-1.

Fatigue was likely a factor too for the entire team once it got to games 6 & 7. Back and forth to LA, back and forth to Van, back and forth to Dallas, back and forth to Sunrise. But Maurice is a damn good coach and if he could shut down 97 & 29, they could grind out a game 7 win and that’s what Florida did.

Last year was last year, so it’s a moot point for me now. Here in the now, they’re playing well as a team, but when the starting goalie’s stats are in the bottom half of the league on a team that by all accounts are defensively responsible, it shouldn’t be difficult to see where the upgrade needs to be if they want to get back to the SCF. Call me a pessimist, but they’re not getting there this year as it currently stands.

As I posted earlier today, looking back at Skinner’s last 10 consecutive starts, in 40% of those games, he’s allowed 3 goals in the first period putting them down 3-0 (includes 4 first period goals against Pittsburgh).

You can’t tell me that is wearing thin with his teammates. He’s about as good as Koskinen.

When it comes to goalie tandem’s among teams you expect to make the playoffs where do you rank the Oilers goalies? They are not high up the list, that is for sure. If you have a real shot at winning the cup do you feel comfortable with these 2 under the highest pressure? I don’t understand why you would be against doing everything possible to improve this. Can they win with Skinner/Pickard? Not saying they can’t but the chances to win in my opinion would improve quite a bit with an established veteran to pair with Skinner.

EDM has lapses on defense but the majority of the reason they lose is because of Skinner. I trust Pikard a heck of a lot more than that guy. He actually battles, rarely lets in bad goals and has excellent rebound control. If he's in net against the Leafs, they win that game. 100%. Won't ever happen but I'd be absolutely fine making Pikard the starter. If he can handle it I'm on board. Skinner was thrown in as a starter when he was a backup why can't Pikard? Just saying.

He's an inconsistent goaltender. Has the same career stats as Mikko Koskinen, who Spector wanted to run out of town. If he was a euro, there isnt a chance he's still here.
