There’s always “what ifs” and “if only’s”. The Oilers could have blown them out in game 1 but Bobrovsky stole that one. If only they didn’t have a 5.5 minute meltdown in game 3 when it was 1-1.they are partly to blame, they carry the offense...the secondary scoring stepped BIG TIME in Game 6
also...if you were told the Oilers would only give up 3 goals TOTAL in games 6 & 7, you would think the Oilers would win the Cup with McDavid and Draisaitl on our team
Fatigue was likely a factor too for the entire team once it got to games 6 & 7. Back and forth to LA, back and forth to Van, back and forth to Dallas, back and forth to Sunrise. But Maurice is a damn good coach and if he could shut down 97 & 29, they could grind out a game 7 win and that’s what Florida did.
Last year was last year, so it’s a moot point for me now. Here in the now, they’re playing well as a team, but when the starting goalie’s stats are in the bottom half of the league on a team that by all accounts are defensively responsible, it shouldn’t be difficult to see where the upgrade needs to be if they want to get back to the SCF. Call me a pessimist, but they’re not getting there this year as it currently stands.
