Post-Game Talk: This one lasted a lifetime

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server

and also, you know, playoffs are fun. It's fun to be part of the extra season, even if it doesn't go anywhere. Missing them for 7 years should have taught Rangers fans that.
Yes, there's a time and place where you need to miss them and draft well at the pointy end; but as that's not an option this season, playoffs and hopefully a win or two would be much more fun than not making it
Reminder that Sam would get to call the first round of the playoffs.

Who does more with their minutes and opportunities. Alexis the French or Johnny the Polish?

I’m not going to be a hypocrite. Winning is better than losing, but I would have probably preferred the loss. I’m a fan of the New York Rangers. The crest and logo and team that has existed since before I was born. I genuinely hate THIS team. I’m not going to lie or pretend… I love the team in a generational, unconditional way… the way my dad loves me when I f*** up and he’s tired of cleaning up 30+ year olds’ messes. I HATE this team. There’s no one on this roster that I genuinely like. There’s some I’m ambivalent about; Cuylle, Berard, etc… but there isn’t a single player on this team that I truly love. Like… I loved Dubinsky, Girardi and Lundqvist. I loved Peter Forsberg. I love Ovechkin. For some reason, I loved Jason Pominville in Buffalo. There isn’t a single player in this organization at any position, at any level, that I feel more than “meh, sure they’re fine” about.

They have to put Rosen in the rafters when he's done don't they?

Being competitive the next 6-7 years by blowing it up after this season is much more fun than sneaking in and getting blown out in the first round, then Drury thinking “well we still go in maybe we can keep some of the guys after all”.
You can sneak in and still 'blow it all up'.
Drury seemed pretty hellbent on shaking things up after an ECF run so I doubt a 1st round exit really changes his mindset (although who knows).

6-7 years is an eternity to NHL terns, there's for too many variables to say that what happens now has a real effect for good and bad by then (although organizationally you can put practices in place that lead to a higher chance of positive outcomes). The only current players on our roster for 7 seasons ago are Mika and Kreider.
Hell, half our roster wasn't here 4 seasons ago...

Othmann had a good game. He played 4:19 with Trocheck and Panarin. Their numbers were good. Othmann made the play on the Rangers first goal by keeping the play alive in the Canucks zone. Othmann went from a healthy scratch against the Flames to playing with Trocheck and Panarin two games later.

Zibanejad and Kreider were awful. Nothing new there.

Vancouver had a xGF% of 75.55 and lost.

I read Lankinen played the game with a flu bug and Tocchet thought about pulling him. EP40 and Noglander missed the 3rd period.

What kind of run are you expecting? Even if they made the playoffs they will get smoked vs any playoff team in the first round. Not sure how anyone isnt rooting for a season ending collapse and miss the playoffs so we get some REAL changes in the offseason. It’s all about long term now, not short term gratification that leads to nothing.

And no, to that specific someone, this is not trolling. I actually care about the team in the future and want change.
I want the cup and then a full rebuild

Was anyone else really underwhelmed by the ceremony and celebration for Sam? I mean, this is Sam f***ing Rosen for crying out loud. Remember how big of a production Richter night, Messier night, Leetch night, etc. were? What changed? I can understand the NHL wanted a limited pre-game ceremony to not delay the game, but how is it that we didn't have anyone join him in the booth during the game? No JD, no Espo, not Richter, no Graves, no Leetch...really bizarre.
