The defensive shell was working just fine. Lots of in zone chances from outside of the slot. They defended the net well.

I would love that to be the case. If we're going to play sub-par hockey, now is the time to get it out of our system. Unlike many Canes fan, I couldnt care less about the Pres trophy or any other regular season accolades. If we play like this in a few weeks, we'll be a quick out. As I have mentioned, I'm concerned about our discipline issues. It killed us vs Tampa last year and it hasnt gotten better this season. Penalties directly contributed to all three losses to the Caps this year - the 5-on-3 game-winner we gave up in Nov, the blowout debacle a couple weeks ago, and the bonehead Tro penalty tonight.

They did but we still had a chance to win. The Caps played in Columbus last night. Both teams had reason to drag ass, but looking at the shot disparity, the Caps showed up and we were just...kinda there. Playing like we did the margin of error is nil, and we blew it.
