They kept Hajek around because Kravtsov was going down for conditioning..... You're being stubborn to keep from admitting you're wrong.
Clearly I'm not wrong. I showed you they kept 8 D-men instead of the usual 7 that most teams start with. Forcing them to go with one less forward. You can yap all you like that he went down for conditioning. They had to give some reason for his absence/demotion. What were they to say? We sent him down so we can protect Hajek? They needed to make up some excuse.

Tell me,... when did they decide he needed more conditioning? Before or after he scored that beautiful one-timer, the minute he came back from being injured? Please....

You can count on one hand, how many players on this team can make that play. It takes timing and coordination. Zibad came back from injury last year, and could execute a one-timer to save his life. It took months for him to get the timing and coordination back. Conditioning my ass.

You could say more correctly they kept Hajek rather than McKegg, which is what would more typically be done. They wanted Kravtsov to get more work after being out. Yes he had a nice goal. Then they saw him slow down or decided he should play a couple of games in Hartford. Whatver the reason it wasn't to keep Hajek. Then he took his toys and ran home to Daddy. He'd have been in New York within a couple of weeks.

It seems we'll get nowhere continuing this.

How do you know that? Because they said so? Fact,.. Hajek wasn't waiver extempt. Kravstov was. Why can't you see this as a possibility? Isn't it at least possible? You can't even give me that? Talk about being stubborn. They kept an extra D-man for what? Remember, Hajek is done, finished. He will never see another game as a NY Ranger. Not with Zac Jones and Braden Schneider on the farm. So what was the benefit of keeping him on the big club when he will never dress for another game? They kept him for fear of losing him, without getting anything in return, period. Kravstov was the odd man out because he was wavier exempt and can be called up at any time.

None of this excuses his behavior with management's decision, but don't you think management should have known his response after what happened last year? In his eyes, he was now cut for a second time, and this time,... incredibly for a player who will never play. And he is not totally incorrect in that assumption.

The Rangers' brass never thought of the possibility of losing their first-round pick for pennies on the dollar with their dumbass decision. They were much more concerned in protecting a 10th D-man on the depth chart. The only way Hajek dresses for the NY Rangers again, is if the whole blueline ends up on COVID protocol.

One thing is for sure... we need to work on our odd-man rushes.

So painful to watch.

Every single player on the Rangers could hit a cross ice one timer. These dudes are in the NHL. Every kid on a U16 AAA team could do that.

Jesus

You must be joking. You see Kakko and Lafrenière continually whiff on such attempts,... and they are a hell of a lot better than 16 year olds. Even Zibad coming off COVID last year, lost his touch and took many weeks to get his timing back. Not everyone is a Great Eight, Stamkos, Zibad, etc...

Dude it was a cross ice one timer. Literally everybody in the league can do it

False. At the NHL level the pass across comes much faster and you have to get the shot off quickly and with some power behind it. It was not an easy play and only a few other players on the team would have buried that if they were in the same position. Question for you. Kakko has now played almost 2 seasons full of games at this point for the rangers have you seen him even attempt to take that one timer from the right boards, let alone bury it?

Team is 22-8-4 and we have people arguing about the legitimacy of the execution of a one time in PRESEASON. Both sides of this argument look stupid, but especially the side that is still upset about Kravtsov and cant move on.

22-8-4 and the misery of some doesn’t die down. Cant make this shit up.

This New Years, I'm thankful we still have those here who add nothing to a conversation but entertain us with their impaired wisdom. As if those who know how to use medication responsibly, have no right to discuss anything but the Rangers great success. Truly comical. LOL!

I've actually seen Kakko successfully do a one-timer once and hit the net with it. I'm hoping one day he and Lafriniere get much better at it. But it is a special skill that only the elite players do extremely well. We paid close attention to Draisaitl during their PP for exactly this reason. Thank God we kept the penalties to a minimum. Even Draisaitl fanned on a one-timer near the goal line during the game. So even the elite don't always make it look easy.

I can say with the utmost confidence, two weeks before the Allstar break, that the NY Rangers will compete in the 2021-2022 NHL Playoffs.

Let me simply break it down,... With a 15 point cushion to the first team outside looking in, which is Detroit, kinda says it all. Detroit would have to go on some kind of run and would need us to crater some, to even have a chance to displace us. The Isles might have a better chance than Detroit, as they have 10 games in hand. But even that is very unlikely,... with the fact our schedule moving forward is very favorable. To date, Jan 17th, we have played 9 more road games, than we have played at home. So the remainder of our schedule is heavily skewed to playing on home ice, where we have done very well this season.

So, minus the Champaign and celebration, we have made the playoffs this year. It is practically a foregone conclusion.

But as of now, we only project to be the 5th or 6th seed in the east. So the season is far from over, if we are to have any hope of home ice advantage. But with our favorable schedule, the points are there to rise in the standings.

Don't be fooled by our first place position in the Met division. Quite a few teams have games in hand on us. Right now the Canes, Bolts, Bruins, and Leafs project ahead of us. Maybe even the Panthers. But FLA projects to come back to earth, being most of their remaining games are on the road. They have played 10 more home games than they have on the road. And they haven't been so hot on the road.

So if we continue our success on home ice, we could gain home ice advantage for a few rounds in the playoffs. So prepare for playoff hockey, it is on its way.

LGR! Oh Baby!

Know whats funny, and I'm sure I've complained about him enough here too but Kreider is tied with Austin Matthews for 3rd place in goals. Talk about earning your contract. This guy has to be the first player to ever sign a long term deal here and get better.

A win tonight and they tie their best first half record. Ever.

This was supposed to be the make a run for the post season year. And yet the bitching and moaning every game goes on and on. They're a good team, in total. I'm enjoying the games. I don't panic after one period because they regularly get back in games. There have been just a handful of total bombs.

A "Like" reminded of this, so i looked at similar games since

NYR results when scoring more than 1
they got to 16-0-3 through Dec 7

then a stretch of 2-3-1 thru Dec 29
(losses only to teams currently in !st Place in their divisions: Avs twice, Panthers, and Vegas in OT)

since then 7-0-0

overall, 25-3-4 when scoring more than 1

He has to be the biggest surprise this year. Who would have thought he would be this consistent? When that has never been his MO. Hopefully, he can keep it up the second half of the season. He has always tailed off in the second half. A few times he was on pace to score more than 30 goals but never did. This year, he's on pace to score more than 40, but we shall see. This year might be different. It sure feels different.
