well they won enough games to be high enough in the standings to make the playoffs. That is what standings mean.

Wins and points are more important than corsi. But yes we havent played all that well yet. But we are still winning. And it looks like we are starting to gel as a team. So yay us. Oh and we are one of the top teams so far in the standings. Which again, is more important than corsi.

I think the last piece of the puzzle for this team, will be learning how to shut down cycles better in their own end. Almost every game you see one of our Dmen and engaged forwards go to close off an attacking opponent along the wall before hesitating, looking around and abandoning his plan to protect his zone because he’s not sure if his teammates are playing their part. I’m sure this will eventually come with more time and trust in one another, but for now we concede a lot of free ice for the opposition due to hesitation that leaves us to put out fires in our own end that could have been snuffed out on the the zone entry.

That’s where watching hockey games actually makes a difference.

The additions Drury made during the offseason as well as Gallant have changed the culture in the room, and makes players feel more engaged in the game on the ice. People still continue to shit on him.
Without these additions and key contributions from some of our own guys we don’t have nearly as many wins as we do now and the locker room would still be volatile.
This teams best hockey is yet to be played, and they are still 12-4-3. Good TEAMS find a way to win when it isn’t always pretty

Just imagine if Zibanejad finds a way to really get it figured out 5-on-5. Think how big that would be. And/or if Lafreniere starts to put it together. Like the team is already good (good, not great) and yet there are still several things about the group that one could realistically hope would improve in the coming months.
