He looked good (2) nights ago in TB. He gets in on the forecheck, cycles the puck and goes hard to the net. He has a cannon of a slapshot too when he has the time to get it off. He is more than just a tough-guy. The ore I see him, the more I like him on the 4th line.

Halpern has really been a HUGE surprise for me. I knew he was good on face-offs and a decent defensive center but the guy has very quick feet and is a very good skater. On top of that he is physical when he needs to be and fits in perfectly on the PK.

I know Mitchell is off to a hot start in Colorado but I would take Halpern over Mitchell from what I have seen so far.

I said this in the offseason and it really doesn't matter much at this point, but people focus too much on position and not enough on role. Mitchell's role was to provide some puck skills to the bottom 6. Fedotenko's role was to provide defensive responsibility and veteran savvy. So, in that sense, Pyatt was intended to be Mitchell's "replacement" while Halpern was intended to be Fedotenko's.

It really is a moot point and there wasn't much use in me posting this. I just felt like reminding myself of what our offseason was like.

Lets actually lose to the Devils first before we call it a lost cause.

IDK what to think of this team...

Gaborik 5 goals (3 of which were in one game), 3 assists
Nash 2 goals, 5 assists
Richards 2 goals, 5 assists

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

Slightly above average effort (though accentuated and frustrating given the talent); consistently below average results.

I still think its all about the process, and, PP withstanding, I think we're still OK.

The suckyness of this team is getting damn sickening. I'll soon find myself less excited for upcoming games. WTF Rangers...

I'll start worrying if they manage less than 4 points out of the next 3 games. If we're >=.500, coming out of this I'm okay. Still plenty of time.
It's not like they have downright sucked tonight, plenty of must-have chances, just unable to put it together. That has got to stop (and I'm positive it will).
Lundqvist is below .900 still, that's reason to worry, but I honestly think he will have well above .915 at the end of the season.
PP at about 8% is hilarious. In a normal season, it should come up a bit, even a little improvement in this department would be a big help.

So, my reason for being somewhat the optimist in here, is that they just can't get much worse. No way.

Welp the Rangers are 4-5 in their first nine games. That's an improvement over last year where they went 3-6. They then went 12-2 in the next 14 so let's see what happens now
