Even if we don’t get top value back, the important thing is that we should have a really high first next year. It will also signal more trades I’m sure. I still think TK has to go. The Flyers should be terrible for a few years so retaining means nothing.

If the Flyers get pick 29, I wonder how far they can move up with 22+29? I go back and forth on whether it’s better to have 3 swings in this draft or 2 better ones.

All in all this is a good day, it signals the Flyers are doing a clear rebuild. If TK, Laughton and Hart also go, we could be loaded with 1st rounders the next 2 years

So if the rumors are true, this mostly boils down to how okay you are with selling low-ish on Sanheim. Cash out now for a 1st round pick? Or hold on to him and risk his value further fluctuating? Neither answer is wrong.

Hayes for Krug is mostly a wash, but I'd rather have Hayes' shorter term.

The best part of these moves. It’s going to suck seeing them maybe sell low.

But it’s asinine to hold on for a slightly better asset, and worsen their draft position for next year moving people late at the deadline.

Burn this bitch to the ground now.

Why? Why does a Krug-like contract prohibit the Flyers from doing?

A good GM uses their horrendous outlook as leverage to take on bad contracts in full for extra assets

It all comes back to betting on the chance he improves to be worth the 8 year contract. If it was 5 years, it would be a totally different story, at least to me.

Also also.

It’s going to be magical seeing the Flyer beats, namely Meltzer - and Myrt who talk so strongly against a tank - have to support it.

If that’s what it ends up being of course.

Tank baby tank. Beautiful.
I've seen too many "retools" "reloads" "restocks" of this team at this point, they have to tear it all down and hit the reset button on everything.

What do you think Sanheim would garner if he had a 2x6 contract? Not much more than a later 1st rd pick. Not as much as Provorov.
He's a 2nd pair D-man, he's not going to garner a premium return.

Other than his skating through the neutral zone, Sanheim lacks any standout qualities, he's a solid all around player who lacks physicality in the D-zone, has an average shot, and average vision. He's a solid 2nd pair guy who can give you some offense and won't be a liability on defense.

They have to move him.

I’m wondering if, despite it not being a good prospect, they just like the player as a pro for the phantoms.
Yup, they have no option after Torts benched him those last five games.

But it’s pretty humiliating to send Angelo back to Carolina right before they use the Flyers 3rd rounder in the 2023 draft #71, and they have the Flyers 2nd rounder in 2024, which should be ~#36.

Agreed, doesn't really make sense after hearing they are holding out on laughton if a 1st and 2nd were offered.
Hahaha

Laughton and Angelo are not the same.

It’s absolutely humiliating, which is why I give DB props for sucking it up and getting a rid of a trash hockey player and trash human being. He’s cleaning up Chuck’s mess.

I will not argue with anyone shitting on Torts for being dick because... well, he is a dick. That being said, i can't imagine anyone getting upset with a TDA trade under the basis of "HE'S ONLY GETTING TRADED BECAUSE TORTS DOESN'T WANT HIM!"

Yes. Torts doesn't want him. He shouldn't. That's a good opinion to have. I wouldn't want him on my team if i was coach, either.

Gotta trade him before he gets any veto power, right?

If Sanheim's contract was a bit better and he wasn't coming off a down season, I think he'd be bringing back an additional 2nd+, closer to the Lindholm trade.

I'm more in favor of cashing out now, getting a 2023 1st, and letting him rebound elsewhere, but I wouldn't be surprised if some value is ultimately left on the table here. But that's okay, not sure I want to take the risk of him deprecating more just for an extra 2nd+

This too.
