Why do people have to burst bubbles? As Flyers fans we literally have NOTHING to look forward to. I mean Nothing as in zilch, zero, nada, niente. We have.....
- a 30+ yo 3rd line C getting paid as 1 1C
- a 30 yo 1st line center who has not played in 2 years being paid 8MM until SS kicks in
- a 34 yo winger who has not played in almost 2 years
- a promising young netminder who can't be traded in a rebuild due to potential legal issues
- upper management that is obessed with big, gritty, slow, vet-tran players
- a mascot named Gritty for Christ sakes

So when someone suggests something good coming to the Flyers, let's just revel in it, because at the end of the day, it is all we have. If we want reality, we can always go to the main boards....
You forgot the #1D on a massive contract who might not even be alive

There is zero evidence to support that, given their last few drafts included York, Andrae and Brink.
Deslauriers was 12th in minutes among forwards, he's a low cost role player.
Gauthier, Kaplan, Attard, Foerster are all skilled offensive players.
They are one of the smallest teams in the NHL.

Hayes is a helluva hockey player, *when he wants to play *.

Getting him self motivated is the key.....is there a coach out there that can do that ?

Did you really just call a player that arguably has no place in the NHL, as you said 12th in minutes, on a $7 million dollar contract low cost? This is rich... even for you

Theres literally zero reason to buyout Hayes.

Part ot the luxury of a rebuild is you can let bad contracts run out. Buying him out just handcuffs you for when you could be good again.
One benefit of a buyout is that his ice time is going to a younger player, but I agree that doing it now, with all the time and money left on his contract, certainly does not make sense. Maybe next year, but it’s still a lot of money for two years. Hayes may not be a fit (not least of all because Torts is the wrong coach for a rebuild), but he’s a good soldier. Playing him and keeping the door open for a trade is the way to do it. He’s still a very good player. Someone will become interested and desperate at some point.

There is zero benefit to a Hayes buyout and this is coming from a guy who detests Hayes.

A buyout now will have cap implications for the Flyers through the 28-29 season. Better to eat 50% and trade him for the best deal you can get. At least then you are only carrying 3.57 million per through 25-26.

I'm doubtless michkov is the second best player in the draft if he's there at 7 you take him there isn't a deal that convinces me not to do so.

Of course Deslauriers has a place, he was traded at the TDL for a 3rd rd pick the spring before CF signed him.
$1.75M is low cost, you can bury $1.25M in the AHL if need be.

Gritty is great. Don't lump him in with Hayes and Torts.

So was Rinaldo. Just because it happens doesn’t make it right. Rather the opposite. Displays incompetence within the hockey world. Kind of like how CF gave him a $7 million dollar contract. He did it but was a terrible decision

No, there is a benefit and I outlined it. Other than that, we agree that it would be a very bad and pointless decision to buy him out now.

Making $1m on an expiring contract.

It's very likely Deslauriers will be added to the long list of ex-Flyers who barely played another NHL game once they were done in Philly. Some of these guys were good players up until they got old and retired, but not many. And NicD has never been good.
