cant treat a player that way, players will notice that shit. agree no buyout
I was obviously being facetious about Pboxing Hayes for 82 games but if he asked to be bought out and was serious about it, such an action would be tempting. So would sending him to LV. If he wants to be gone, play good hockey and make yourself a tradeable commodity. No way the Flyers should put him in a position to double dip with a buyout.

If they can't move Hayes, he'll play on the 3rd line, but I think they'll get a decent offer, look at the crap in free agency.
May have to wait until after the draft, but 50+ point centers aren't that easy to find.

I don't think #25 and #29 gets you a top flight center, unless he's on a one year deal.
Might get you a decent 2C.

He will be bought out if not traded, unless the coach does a complete 180. He deos not want him back at all. You cant discount that.

waiving a legit NHL like Hayes would also not be good business.

Not that the Flyers will be dipping into free agency, or they shouldn't for high profile players, who in their right mind will willingly want to come her to play for Torts if your a good offensive player?

They're not buying him out, the cap hit would extend to 2028-29.
At worst, Hayes will accept a 3rd line role with the understanding they'll try to move him next summer, so it's in his interest to play well.

it has nothing to do with what hayes will accept. Torts does not want him back.

Torts is not going to hamstring the team by forcing a buyout.
He'll just use Hayes in a 3rd line role. It's not like they'll have that much depth given the probable trades this summer.

lol, torts cares about torts. He has made his feelings well known for a long time know.

We shall see if Jones and Briere do what he wants in the event he isnt traded.

It's often a "musical chairs" type of thing, once the first deal goes down, the losers turn to plan B and things start humming.
With FA a couple days after the draft, teams are looking to see who resigns with their old team (Haula just did).

An interesting factor is the reputation of this draft, some teams that don't have 1st rd picks or have higher 1st rd picks aren't going to trade out of 2023, but if they devalue 2024 and discount it as a year away, will be will to trade future picks - but those deals can wait until after the draft..

Listening to seashells again?
Why do people have to burst bubbles? As Flyers fans we literally have NOTHING to look forward to. I mean Nothing as in zilch, zero, nada, niente. We have.....
- a 30+ yo 3rd line C getting paid as 1 1C
- a 30 yo 1st line center who has not played in 2 years being paid 8MM until SS kicks in
- a 34 yo winger who has not played in almost 2 years
- a promising young netminder who can't be traded in a rebuild due to potential legal issues
- upper management that is obessed with big, gritty, slow, vet-tran players
- a mascot named Gritty for Christ sakes

So when someone suggests something good coming to the Flyers, let's just revel in it, because at the end of the day, it is all we have. If we want reality, we can always go to the main boards....
