It's a 4th. And EJ has at least proven that he's capable as an NHL defender.Ginning stinks for free though. EJ stinks after you give up a 4th.

Not this year he hasn't.EJ has at least proven that he's capable as an NHL defender.
Best I can do is trade one for a washed 36 year old.I have an idea, it's called "acquire picks"
That's not really the point. You don't waste assets like this. It's a 4th round pick. Name me the last player that contributed consistently to an NHL lineup that the flyers have picked in the 4th round. I'll give you a hint. There isn't one.
Are good players automatically bad character guys or something?
This trade made the current team worse. I dont care about the 4th.It's a 4th round pick. Name me the last player that contributed consistently to an NHL lineup that the flyers have picked in the 4th round. I'll give you a hint. There isn't one.
I actually don't really care one way or another. I think they've been fun to watch this year. And I think DB is trying to keep the locker room positive after trading away a guy who was contributing nicely on the back end. This trade made the current team worse. I dont care about the 4th.
If youre someone who wants them making the playoffs...you should not be happy.
Flyers drafted two of their regulars in the 5th.It's a 4th round pick. Name me the last player that contributed consistently to an NHL lineup that the flyers have picked in the 4th round. I'll give you a hint. There isn't one.
They clearly value culture. And like it or not, they clearly believe the culture shifting has a lot to do with the success the team has had this year. There is clearly a buy in from the team for the head coach, and everything I've ever read about EJ is that he's a great human. They have young players that are learning the game. Players don't grow in a vacuum. Having guys around to give different perspective, different ways of viewing the game and how to play it can be valuable in teaching young players how to be successful at the NHL level. That's true not just for professional sports but any job environment. That's not really the point. You don't waste assets like this.
Oh and Sam Ersson was a 5th rounder.
That's like your opinion man, and if a coach believes that a guy like EJ can help him do that who are you to say he's wrong?Keeping the locker room a happy place is a coaching issue. Players shouldn't be acquired for their social skills
I love how you say look at the Flyers success in faceoffs over the last 20 years to justify their obsession with "culture." Why not look at their complete lack of success in winning anything over their last 20 years? They clearly value culture. As an example look at the Flyers success in faceoffs over the last 15-20 years. Richards gave all the credit in the world to Bobby Clarke for pulling him aside and teaching him how to cheat and win on draws. Richards taught Carter, taught Giroux taught Couturier, taught Laughton etc. There is lasting impact on the team from the voices brought into the room both good and bad

I used it as an example of how knowledge in specific aspects of the game can be valuable and useful throughout an organization for a very long time.I love how you say look at the Flyers success in faceoffs over the last 20 years to justify their obsession with "culture." So why not find those players in FA, and not waste valuable picks at the deadline...I used it as an example of how knowledge in specific aspects of the game can be valuable and useful throughout an organization for a very long time.
Unless you believe career winger Claude Giroux at 20 years old just magically developed into one of the best faceoff centers in the league for the next 15 years on his own with 0 help or input from anyone along the way
It's the middle of the season and they just traded a guy that's been in their top 4 the whole season, and placed another top 4 d that they traded for in season on IR...So why not find those players in FA, and not waste valuable picks at the deadline...
So your entire point was a strawman? Since neither of those points has anything to do with learning from vets. It's the middle of the season and they just traded a guy that's been in their top 4 the whole season, and placed another top 4 d that they traded for in season on IR...
