JFC trade him yesterday. Of all the dumb stuff they can do re-signing him is probably among the dumbest. Even if you're in the hunt for the Division Walker should be dealt if there's interest.

The NHL trade moratorium started last night and goes through December 28 so there won't be any action with Hart or any other Flyer for a bit. With Hart being sick like he has recently, it's hard to figure if teams would be willing to take him on right now. There sure are some clubs that need someone like him. Briere needs to hold tough on offers though. CH is a legitimate starting goalie who should draw a nice return.

I get panicky over trading Hart in favor of Ersson because I think of the Montreal Price/Halak dilemma, but so far Ersson looks like a goalie who is good enough to win if you give him a team in front of him. And trading Hart could go a long way towards building that team. Walker too.

Maybe he's like me and has a very bad reaction to a habanero sauce at a local burrito shop, but he keeps getting it because it's delicious.
Ersson's name feels incomplete. It could use another letter or two at the beginning.

So far it seems teams are trying to fix their goalie issues internally. At least for now. We will see how that goes as we get into late winter.

Hart strikes me as more of a draft/off-season trade while he's an RFA.
At some point teams are going to accept that the ominous Team Canada report might just be held off into perpetuity.

I don't see them trading Hart now while in playoff spot. Now in the the summer, when we possibly have other depth goalies coming over, tgat seems more likely.

Ersson backed up by Sandstrom isn't a bad tandem. Sandstrom has improved his play as the year has gone on. With Kolosov coming over next season, the Flyers are looking good in the net.
They can afford to trade Hart. It doesn't look like they can afford to extend him on the type of deal that he's going to want as he goes RFA this summer.

Goalies being voodoo and all, it's hard for me to be on board with keeping Hart on the assumption that he will be this good 7 years from now when Michkov is hitting his prime. It's a hard decision to make, but selling him now for assets that are more relevant to that timeline makes sense. We know what he is now and what he is worth now. We do not know that he'll be anything like that far down the road, or even 3 years down the road. Holtby, Mason, and Murray are all examples of really good goalies who suddenly became really not good well before you'd have expected.
How good will Hart be at 32? How many years would he have left of good play as the team's window can be expected to really start? Solid chance that this reasoning should lead to us trading off Ersson soon too.
