Danny is being forced to trade TDA for peanuts because after last season, due to his piss poor play, that's all he's worth.
Torts doesn't hate TDA, he's just frustrated that the kid has rocks for brains and kept making the same mistakes. He gave him every chance to succeed.

Carolina put him with Slavin to CYA, and used him in a sheltered role, they were aware of his limitations - which is why they only want him back on a 3rd pair salary ($2.5M). The fact that they'd trade for TDA rather than resign Ghost for the same role suggests Ghost's agent priced him out of their plans.

Fletcher overpaid (which I said at the time), hoping that coming home would motivate TDA - and to be fair, he kept his nose clean. But the Flyers lacked the kind of partner who could raise his game (one reason I think they're looking to trade Sanheim and traded Provorov - both solid players who can't elevate their partners, so they're more complementary than players you'd build around - compare to York, where every partner played better with than without him).

TDA played best with Seeler in a 3rd pair role, but that's also the slot where you want to shelter a rookie, be it Attard or Grans.

torts also used tony d on the pk and to close out games with a lead. Great coaching there.

We should trade tippet before his value goes down too and just turn him in quick pump and dump. Tippet won't make this team any less bad going forward, the futures can.

Tippett and Laughton are 3rd liners on good teams but this group considers them vital.

I haven’t paid attention to the exact details but taking on krug just to get rid of Sanheim is kind of meh to me. I get the desire to move Sanheim before the NTC kicks in, but it feels like it’s not a great trade

Uh, when you have deals where you have to ask players/agents for permission to waive their NTC and/or whether they'll sign, how do you keep it secret?
Or why do we know about other teams' deals? Maybe because when there are a lot of moving parts, people gonna talk.
