NJ being involved for Laughton means they get bent over and get less than they could to keep him close to home
It wasn’t just here.Remember when people on these boards wanted to give up 3 1's for Seth Jones? Good times.
Friedman said on this mornings pod that the Flyers want to do right by him (if they do trade him) and have him go somewhere he is happy with. Laughton made it clear he doesn’t want be traded.NJ being involved for Laughton means they get bent over and get less than they could to keep him close to home
Silly question. What has Laughton done to do what right for him? G I get he was the franchise. But Laughton? If they end up trading Laughton to NJ for a 2 & 4 to take care of Laughton, I will not be pleased.Friedman said on this mornings pod that the Flyers want to do right by him (if they do trade him) and have him go somewhere he is happy with. They’ve wanted a 1st for him and we’re reminded that they said that last year and got it.
Torts is pushing hard to have Risto stay. ‘All of a sudden the Flyers have a lot of D.’
They tried to sign York early this year and it went nowhere.
Like the Rangers are doing, they’re setting up to make a huge acquisition ‘at some point’

As even Tortorella said last week, "It's a business." When you're traded, you go to where you were sent unless you have a clause in your contract to do otherwise. Laughton has none.Friedman said on this mornings pod that the Flyers want to do right by him (if they do trade him) and have him go somewhere he is happy with. #oldboisclub4life yo....Laughton has been a good soldier and I respect what he's been through on this team, but in no way should the GM be taking less of a payment to trade him somewhere of Laughton's choosing. Sorry bud, this is a a business and you're going to the team that offers the most.
This is reason #317 this team will never pull off a rebuild, they can't even sell off their 30 year old bottom six forward properly.
Laughton has maybe 4 years of hockey left. He should be able to suck it for that long.Laughton has been a good soldier and I respect what he's been through on this team, but in no way should the GM be taking less of a payment to trade him somewhere of Laughton's choosing. If both Laughton and the team are that distraught about separating, he can sign his last contract back with this team after his current one expires.Laughton has maybe 4 years of hockey left. He should be able to suck it for that long.

Giroux wronged the franchise by having the balls to use his contractually given rights. They traded Gagne and Giroux ffs. Much more significant players to the franchise
That’s how I view this saga. I think there’s legitimate knowledge that players don’t view Philly as a destination anymore and their toolbox isn’t as filled as it once was. After all, players are humans, and change can be tough for families. This could be their way to change the narrative — although on-ice production speaks louder league-wide, so hampering asset valuations to “do right” isn’t the way to go, but I get where they’re coming from. This should’ve been done last year. I don’t get how this team backs itself into their own corner and then seems confused how they got there.I can realistically see this FO approaching their handling of Laughton as proof that they do good by their players, which they will want to feed the narrative of the Flyers as a place players want to come. However, it will reinforce the perspective that they prioritize veteran "good soldier" types.
Oh, goodie, the "we're never f***ing doing anything" apologist brigade is spinning up the pablum generators.
I do love the dichotomy of "Risto is so valuable to this team how could we replace him?" and "The Flyers would have to retain salary to trade him because he's incredibly overpaid for what he brings" both being true at the same time.As of the show he did on Saturday Charlie still doesn’t seem to think either Laughton or Ristolainen gets traded as well.
Ristolainen basically comes down to his contract. Flyers don’t want to eat money on it so that probably limits the amount of teams that could be in play at this deadline which probably also limits your opportunities to get your asking price of a first rounder type of value.
