Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid 3 - Flyers Rumors and Media Mentions: Never Ending Circles

Risto is here for the long haul. They will re-sign him, because they envisioned themselves back in the playoffs as soon as this year and "he's the type of RHD teams covet for the playoffs"...

"We get excited about trading him and thinking about the kind of return we can get, but I'm not shopping him, I'm not trying to get rid of him," Briere said. "He's a big asset for us and it would be a big hole if we ever have to lose him. I really don't know where it's going, but I can tell you, I'm not shopping him. I did receive some calls on him."

I will be very happy if the above was all a lie and Risto is finally off this team and eager to see the diminished returns when compared to what it cost to initially acquire him + years of tutelage.
this shit Org. is 100% triple downing on Risto..

expect a extension...

If you believe everything you hear, it takes months to trade a third line player. In the NBA, you need to be in MENSA to figure that shit out and it takes like 3 days to move superstars among 4 teams with only 2 rounds of a draft that restricts how often you can trade picks

A good reminder that the NHL is mostly run by lazy retired hobbyists

A year ago we were getting told it didn't make sense for other teams to trade for Risto because there wasn't enough practice time to integrate him.
It's not surprising he's injured again. Since Fletcher traded for him, he's only played in 225 games out of 303, which is 74%.

Ellis is at 1.3%.

And for all the hyping about how he's "fixed" it sure doesn't matter much when he's out and nobody besides the TV crew ever tries to pretend it does.

The team that trades for him has to be desperate or dumb. I doubt the viability of rumors about him.

I refuse to believe Briere couldn't have offered a more tempting deal for Pettersson than the Canucks got for Miller if he actually tried to.
Let's pretend he couldn't so we don't have to accept that the Flyers FO wasn't interested in doing so.

Lol wow everyone always say Canadian media is ridiculous but holy cow they were seriously phishing in this one to make Philly look bad.

When Benny posted this video earlier, I had a similar thought. To me, the narrative was more about the Flames coming in and saving Frost and Farabee from mean-man Torts. I don't really blame the Flames organization/media for taking the angle they did. Hell, the Flyers do the exact same thing (push a narrative) to sell tickets. It's the media's job.

Yeah, I can see that point. Just think putting another team down as being stupid, when the trade was not done with the team and players on bad terms, was tasteless.

Think the rest of the interview was awesome and could've stood on its own merits to market the players and their personalities.

You don't see the flyers coming out and saying how Pelletier and Kuzmenko were stifled by a stupid coach and management.

Think they would never chase a guy like that.

If they are going to give up assets, they went a guy with a Tortorella style of motor. Think that’s a must have honestly.

Petey for all his talent, no way he would work with John. Miller would have been a better fit to them, thank goodness someone else traded for him.

I’m holding out slim hope they offer sheet Johnston if possible.

The Flyers have came out and said that Risto basically never learned how to play hockey in Buffalo and needed the equivalent of remedial reading lessons just to be a useful NHLer.

This was after they traded a small ransom for him, and gave him a $25.5m extension.

What was Tortorella's quote about Drysdale? "He didn't know how to play" or something like that?

Exactly - every org paints themselves in a positive light. Look at the way they dealt with the Cutter situation… Made it seem like Cutter was acting like a baby and they didn’t do anything wrong.
