I honestly don't dislike Pelletier in a vacuum. If we traded a mid round pick for him I'd be ok with it. The problem is who went to the Flames in the deal. If the deal was Farabee for Pelletier and a first and then Frost got traded for something like a mid rounder or two I probably wouldn't be that upset. The problem is it was Farabee AND Frost for a throwaway pick, a throwaway player, Pelletier, and a second. I generally don't have a problem trading pretty much anyone on the roster to tank and accumulate assets. Even if the trades aren't great as long as they are forward thinking it really isn't the end of the world. But when the trade hurts short and long term wtf are we doing?

There are a lot of players on this team I would like in a vacuum or if they were recognized by the team at their true talent level - Cates and Tippett in particular.

I couldn't agree more, DFF.

If Cates was on the team 10-15-20 years ago he'd probably be favorably viewed here the same way guys like Raffl and Read were. Unfortunately he's borderline being played and marketed as a premier player.

The Tippett deal is fair to even good.

Frost was the cost of dumping Farabee and not having to retain any salary. No one in the league wanted Farabee at his entire contract.

You think Frost and Farabee were valued around the league?

This board is the only place that thinks those two guys had a lot of value.

What do you get out of running interference for a bottom feeding team?

$50m for a 50 point wing who is bad defensively is a huge commitment. God knows what he’ll be like when he returns from this latest injury.

The thing is, with one very notable exception that had the Sabres laughing (almost literally), the Sabres who leave Buffalo do find the grass greener.

Eichel and Reinhart were excellent in Buffalo. Some of us were screaming to trade for Reinhart as far back as 2018 when people thought he flatlined. Evan Rodrigues was an analytical darling who was never given a chance. Mittslestadt was fine. He’s still fine. ROR is the same very good player he was in Buffalo who randomly had a career year one time.

Dylan Cozens just isn’t very good. Am I forgetting someone big here?

Eric Francis just buried the Flyers on the Flames broadcast for it taking a week to get Pelletier and Kuzmenko into town, compared to the Flames sending their private jet (with Craig Conroy on it) to whisk away Frost and Farabee.
I mean they’re not apples to apples unless the visa thing was mostly made up.

I heard that, lol. This example might not be the best but the Flyers appear to be a laughing stock among NHL circles these days.

I can’t ever remember it taking that long to get guys out of Canada, but there were times that there had been delays.

I forget who it was but Charlie mentioned that last year(?) the Stars had a similar situation with a dman they traded for.

Very interested in hearing a trade price on Dobson. It's not an accident that this is coming up as he needs a contract.

Forget about what they say they want. He's available. Just start there and see where the talks take you.

I think Dobson would be a good pick up and while I like Konecny, it could be worth it for someone like him.

I will say this, it will probably be difficult knowing that they are strapped near the cap. Flyers would have to take on about much cap as they put out. So someone like Palmieri would probably have to come back.

Would leave the Flyers with over 30m in cap space to sign Dobson and also get some bigger FAs (even though, with the current management and coaching, I don't think anyone wants to come here even if it means overpaying for people).

There are only two things I would trade TK for: a 25 or younger guy with a legit shot at becoming a 1C, and a 25 or younger guy with a legit shot at becoming a 1D.

Dobson? That's very interesting.
