Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid 3 - Flyers Rumors and Media Mentions: Never Ending Circles

The hate directed at this kid is why Philly will never lose its reputation. "Passion" lol

It’s not hard to see the pattern, though, as a city, we’re insecure as hell and have a tremendous inferiority complex. Look at the things that piss us off the most: people who don’t want to be here (Cutter Gauthier, JD Drew, Scott Rolen), people who don’t seem to care as much as we do (Ricky Watters), and people coming after those we have deemed to be our own (the reaction to people mocking Gritty, after we decided Gritty was good, actually.) Philadelphians love and care about the city, each in our own way, and we take it personally when someone tells us they don’t.

His problem was never the city is the thing. It was the morons who ruined their relationship

As with most cities, we identify our teams as an extension of our city. They're not just the Eagles, they're our Eagles (Go Birds), they're not just the Phillies, they're our Phillies. They're not just the Flyers, they're our idiots. Not wanting to be a part of our team means not wanting to be part of Philadelphia, and we react viscerally to that.

Ducks held a practice as t UPenn today. Typically they are open to the public, but not this one 😂 Everyone is just eating up this meaningless game
Cutter Gauthier prepares to face booing Flyers fans: ‘I just wish they knew the truth’

“The Penn Ice Rink apologizes,” read a sign in all caps posted on the double-glass-door entrance, “but at the request of the Anaheim Ducks organization, today’s practice is closed to spectators.”

Also:

Gauthier, once thought to be a key piece of the Flyers’ ongoing rebuild, was asked if he had any message for the Philadelphia fans who are still displeased with the way everything transpired.

“I just wish they knew the truth, I would say that,” he said. “But other than that, I’m not here to please everyone. I’m here to do what’s best for me and do what’s right for my development, and that’s what I’m working towards.”
Well, gee, enlighten us.
It's not like he has a NDA.

Because hockey players don’t air dirty laundry. He has nothing to gain by bad mouthing the Flyers organization.

Somehow this kid is more mature than the Flyers front office who bashed him the first chance they got.
You have to be kidding, Friedman would be out of business if players and agents didn't air "dirty laundry."

I don't really care one way or another, but when you say something like he did, the needle on my BS meter starts widely swinging.

Depends if you believe that the President of the PHWA is credible or not.
Think it comes down to the details that were left out.

Walker supposedly was traded for a 1st, then you read the fine print and found Johansen's contract and a 5th rd pick went the other way (3rd rd value?).

My suspicion something like that was part of a Laughton deal, they discussed multiple combinations. St Louis wanted to dump salary. So it's more like Flyers were offered a 1st, ??? in return for Laughton, salary dump, later round pick, other players?

The devil is always in the details.

Cutter Gauthier benefits in not a single way by saying what happened. The Flyers benefit by selling tickets by making Gauthier the villain.

I understand they you believe that can’t be true because you have said that mostly everyone loves Torts because very few people have spoke out against him.

What was the something that he said that made your meter swing?

"If people only knew." Like "I got a secret but I'm not telling."
It isn't like he had to worry about burning bridges, there's no legal liability, etc.

If he felt he's being mischaracterized, he or his agent could talk to Friedman for ten minutes and give their side. Players have conflicts with front offices all the time and when they're exposed, it has little impact on a player's career (if he can play, other teams will convince themselves it was the FO's fault and we can do better - I mean TDA has played for four teams, and CAR twice).

Friedman HAS talked about it several times. On December 31st, Friedman confirmed that the issue was that he wasn't signed when they fired Fletcher and what the organization said to him about it. Add that to the other articles that have come out since and it's pretty obvious what the issue is.

Gauthier himself has NO reason to answer a media members question himself as it benefits him in no possible way. The Flyers' front office and Gauthier's camp know what happened and why. The public doesn't need Cutter Gauthier to say it himself. It helps no one.

The same person who for years whenever something vanilla was said during an interview insisted "Well what do you want him to say? He has to play the politics game"

The spin zone is an actual Beyblade.

But he did answer in a way that implied fault without being specific.
Sort of "when did you stop beating your wife" kind of thing.
He could have just said it's water under the bridge.

And no, it's not obvious, because these things are often worked out between the player and organization, there are ways of compensating players with easily earned bonuses, etc.
