I'm not sure I'd trade Andrae and a 1st for Jiricek without a lot of film study.
Don't know if Andrae is this good or a SSS, but he's been lights out on the 2nd pair.
And I'd want to know why Jiricek at 21 couldn't win a job on CBJ.

Film study, sure — I don’t watch his AHL games. But you say this without a hint of irony. Andrae couldn’t win a job on the Flyers putrid blue line at nearly age 23. He only became a regular because of multiple injuries. Were Johnson, Seeler, Drysdale, and Zamula simply that formidable?

Zamula simply that formidable?

I almost forgot we’re back to thinking Zamula is an NHLer again. They paired him with Risto, who each magnify the flaws of the other. His metrics were still largely fine but both were better apart. Unfortunately for him, he made some glaring mistakes, so he was horrible and it couldn’t just be a rough patch he needed to work through.

Now they’ve split them up and he didn’t make four mistakes any idiot would notice, so he’s good again. Not a thing will be learned. Eat Arby’s.

That wasn’t a personal critique of Zamula. More so how the team views him, and that he’s entrenched as organizational fodder. He certainly wouldn’t be blocking a top prospect. I also know why Drysdale was playing over Andrae, and it didn’t have to do with Andrae.

What's wrong with Arby's?

No. I think it was:
1) he wasn't that impressive last season, and looked good, but not this good, in TC
2) numbers game, couldn't waive the other kids so you want to give them an extended trial
3) Johnson is irrelevant, didn't want Andrae as #7, Seeler was lights out last season (even after Walker was traded) and the caddy for Drysdale (don't want the blind leading the blind)

Andrae would have gotten a shot at some point, key was he took advantage of his opportunity.
Whereas Grans flashed some talent, he also showed some weaknesses, so a few more months in the AHL won't hurt him.

Andrae and Risto have shoved Seeler - Drysdale down to the third pair. Still have to figure out how to get Zamula PT. But that's a problem forced by Andrae, which is a good thing.

One reason Drysdale is ahead of Zamula right now is speed, they'd like more speed on the back end. But Drysdale won't have a long leash, improve or die.

Alright Danny, enough f***ing around. Go get a center. Cozens, and Rossi are tops on my short list. Get crazy and figure out how to get both.

Cozens
Rossi
Luchanko
Coots

Next year, now that’s center depth.
Byfield is another I’d like Briere to look into. Blake is ripe to make a bad trade maybe

I am being dead serious when I assure you Arby's is the best fast food there is and it isn't close
Largest one in the world, about an hour south of you, Bif.

I'll never get tired of being informed of the glaring errors players make as a measure of their ability without the self awareness to understand that those are going to make up 90% of the things the eye test remembers.

So, fun fact about that Arby's and the others like them in the extended RVA region. When Arby's was struggling some decades ago, a Richmond group called something like The Restaurant Group had maximum leverage and negotiated to be essentially their own secretive franchise within the Arby's franchise. So that's how you get these Super Arby's with margaritas and beer and table service and and actual cleanliness and shit. They have their own creative kitchen to tweak and refine the food. There are small differences that add up to perfect The Arby Concept. Off the top of my head, the chicken tenders and nuggets are slightly different, and their onion rolls are better.

So if you grow up in Richmond, you're likely to be baffled at why the rest of the country hates Arby's. Then you'll go to one outside of The Flavor Zone and go 'ah, ok, yeah, fair.' Beefette thought that I was an unhinged barbarian when I informed her we straight up went on dates, including prom, at the Mega Arby's locations. Her mind was blown when I took her to one.

Like if there were a town somewhere that contains gourmet 7-11s. The locals would be zealots for them and the outsiders would be bamboozled. I would fight a duel for Arby's.

Also their kids meals toys are elite.

My wife was working down there for the past few months. She was baffled by the thing. I don't think she ever went in.

That's called Japan. Seriously, their 7-11s are on another tier.

Fun fact: New Zealand has Car'l s Jr. but not Arby's.

I think all the Carl's Jr. locations in DE, MD, NJ and PA are closed now.

They're all Hardee's out this way. Same company, Carl's bought them out and didn't change the name. Still a bunch in MD and DE, although there aren't any in NJ anymore. They didn't last long here.
