I’d be fine overpaying for Zegras. But more so if we end up with more of a 2C this draft. Not sure we still should trade for Zegras if we get Catton until we see him play.

15 points in 31 games in the regular doesn't impress. And then 2 points in 8 games at WHC. He's a talented player without questions, but does it mean tools or toolbox?

My ideal lineup from players what we have:

Foerster - xxx - Michkov
Farabee - Frost - Tippett
Cates - xxx - Brink
xxx - Poehling - Hathaway (trade him at the TDL)

York - Sanheim
xxx - Drysdale
Andrae/Zamula/Ginning - Attard/Bonk

Ersson
Fedotov

But I know, both Seeler & Ristolainen will be in.

Also I definitely would NOT buy out Atkinson. Just keep him for the last year & then say goodbye. No reason to have him on payroll until 2026.

There are rumors that Utah would like to acquire a first-pairing defenseman. If they would've had interest in Travis Sanheim, Briere should be listening.

Did you forgot Konecny and Couturier exist?

Better chance at a 2 year extension.

It is clear the Flyers have little interest in having Attard or Ginning on the roster. Dont think even Zamula is a 100% lock to be on the roster. 5 spots already sign sealed and delivered. They will sign a vet for one of the other 2.

Today we should start to see a few minor deals I would assume.

Draft pick trades don’t usually happen until they are on the clock so if the flyers or anyone are trading inside the top ten it’s most likely a player for pick type deal and would hopefully be done before the draft is underway.

I wonder if the flyers try to trade Ellis to the Utah team too. They currently only have Shea Weber as their hold and let’s not act like they won’t be cheap for the first year or two.

Ellis is still owed $16.5MM. Not an attractive contract for a team trying to cheat to the floor

Wouldn’t insurance cover a good amount of that? And flyers could even retain if they feel the need to.
Maybe in the final year a cheap team would take him since his 26-27 salary is $4.5m for a $6.25m AAV.
But the days of every team dumping their injured contracts in Arizona are done.

Ryan Ellis signed a 8 year, $50,000,000 contract with the Nashville Predators on Aug. 14, 2018. The contract has a cap hit of $6,250,000.

Pretty funny that Weber's deal (that Homer put together) still has two years left and he stopped playing three years ago.

Shea Weber signed a 14 year, $110,000,000 contract with the Nashville Predators on Jul. 24, 2012. The contract has a cap hit of $7,857,143.

I think it's wise to stop treating Utah like they're a continuation of Arizona. SEG is going to want the league to accept and acknowledge them as a legitimate franchise, and you don't get that by continuing to play the poverty game the previous dipshits in charge were playing.

I think it's far more likely that Utah decides to very publicly make a break with the cap floor shenanigans, and goes for a major acquisition instead. We'd be more likely to find a partner there for TK than for Ellis.

UHC currently have zero dmen signed

CapsUnfriendly having him assigned to the minors notwithstanding, they signed Kolyachonok, who was on the ice for the last game in Coyotes history, to an extension on Tuesday.

They still have a f***ton of business to do in that regard over the offseason, but they're not completely devoid of players at the position.

I sometimes wonder within this board, if people just want to be better entertained, or to actually win sometime in the future. With Zegras, you get one of these things and it isn't the outcome I want when things matter.

I sometimes wonder if people can fathom that there are going to be varying opinions on a player and accept that instead of obnoxious shit like this.

I don’t even particularly want Zegras. But it’s not like he has no chance of working out. At some point, you’ve got to learn that disagreeing is ok.

What is it about Zegras that makes you think he isn't worth pursuing? Honest question. I know he had a down year last year and dealt with injury, but is there something specific about his game that you feel would not make this team better or that he wouldn't work on a line with Michkov or something like that?

Oh, I didn't consider that. Not sure how that works.

You would have to read the CBA to really have this discussion. The league has an insurance policy and teams usually put their top 7 contracts on it. So I don’t know if a team trading for Ellis would have to use a hard slot on him or exactly how it works. Plus I believe it only recoups up to 80%.

Someone, somewhere did say that Ellis was insured. If I could remember where, I would link it.

Can believe I am posting this but here are "Eklund" current stuff (I KNOW I KNOW)

1) Flyers are interested in Brady Skjei
2) Flyers are still talking to OTT about Chychrun
3) Florida wants to keep Tarasenko & he most likely will sign for less to stay but if not Flyers are interested in him (yes because of Michkov)

Also says McGroarty's asking price is a 1st or a 2nd + 3rd.

Anyway just posting for discussion. we have 1.5 days until the draft so.
