G:
- The cleanest hockey game this team has played all season
- The truth behind the Jochen Hecht myth finally exposed
- Weber
- Regehr
- Kaleta
- Hodgson/Vanek
- Miller
- The team: Quick, clean, crisp, North/South
- PK

B:
- Still a few scary mistakes from Myers
- Realizing far too late that both Pardy and Porter should be here full time
- Officiating
- PP

U:
The PK looks even better with Kevin Porter than it does with Jochen Hecht

I thought you were past this? I know you dislike advanced stats, but Hecht's GA/60 at 4-on-5 is better than every PK regular forward except Kaleta. And Pominville's is actually astonishingly bad.

Also, this reminds me of how much an inch can change a narrative. Stamkos bangs home that layup (for him), and nobody is talking about the PK tonight. Nobody.

Vanek is getting cold like a snowstorm in Buffalo in the winter:cry:
Nobody has moved into Pominville in awhile :help:

U: Grigs isn't even an NHL player you heard it here first :help:

#winsawinbutwerestillalongwaysaway :help:

Vanek had 2 assists, and first? People have been saying he's not ready for over a month.

That must be why Rolston used him to kill penalties tonight.

I don't dislike them. They just aren't gospal.

I don't know why Rolston did what he did. At the same time, I don't lend something additional credence just because Ron Rolston did it.

I'm assuming they are just trying to get a full look at Porter and not that Hecht has been bad on the PK.

Yea, it's amazing how a few "regular" whiners write plenty during a loss, and won't say anything during a win. Talk about credibility :biglaugh:

I'm usually the opposite...because I just don't like discussing losses as much as wins, especially when no effort was made. If the team doesn't make an effort on the ice, why should I in the GBU?

How about that it worked? Pefectly?

So it worked because he took Hecht off the PK? Steven Stamkos hit the crossbar with a wide open net on the PP because it was Kevin Porter watching helplessly as he did so rather than Hecht? That's a stretch.

I'm happy we won. The PK was good for the most part, as it usually is when your goaltender is your best penalty killer. But I don't think Hecht's absence was a reason for it.

Yea but at least you usually write a brief GBU, if not a longer one. Wins or losses. And if you don't, it certainly isn't a pattern. :dunno:

I think you can guess as to who I mean. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed the "silence" during wins, and the diarrhea of the keyboard during losses.

Mixed in with Myer's total brainfarts this game were some good plays. That's encouraging.

1st line looked decent again. That was nice.

Defense as a whole really contained a dangerous team. Pardy was so much better than Leopold it's not even funny.

It's a start.

The point is they don't need him for anything, and it took a different coach to expose it and prove it.

I'm glad Vanek got 2 points. He is quietly rising up the all time Sabre scoring lists... By the time he is done , if he plays his whole career here then he will either be right behind or slightly ahead of Perreault as the all time leading goal scorer. At Vaneks current pace , he would pass Perreault for most goals as a Sabre during his 15th season.

The Good: the pacing of the game particularly in the 3rd period. Few whistles and towards the end, end to end action.

The 3rd period really went fast.

Will be interesting to see how this win translates to Thursday night.
