Big gripe I have with Maurice tonight is having the advantage of the last change how is that the Staal line was out there so many times against Marner and Matthews? They got caved in so many times, it was truly impressive how Maurice kept throwing them out there against them.
Trying to free up Barkov line a bit but we know how that went

Panthers looked real bad tonight but the Leafs didn’t look that much better. Sucks the game basically came down to the ref setting up a Toronto goal. Hopefully this is a wake up call for them and they put the series away in game 5

I agree. For a guy with last change they end up against our shitters way too often.

I was promised Panthers in 4...

I was there so I’ll give my two cents. Yeah, even with the Barkov haters in the crowd.

The team played nervous, tentative, unlike the previous six. That’s not just Barkov but also everyone other than Bob and Reino.

And it includes the coaching staff. Every time our fourth like was on the ice, except for ONE shift, they shit the bed, including the eventual GWG. Coaching staff need to get their shit together here. Get Lomberg back or move Dalpe out for someone else. White played ok. E Staal was shit.

Oh and M Staal and Mahura were shit. Every time in their own zone they played the puck the wrong way: reversing when they should have shoveled it on and shoveling it on when they should have reversed.

Oh well can’t win them all I guess. I just don’t really want to go back to watch them on Sunday TBH.

Didn’t expect a sweep, Toronto is too good for a sweep, beating any team 4 straight in the playoffs is tough. Even with the leafs in a must win, it was still a 1 goal game where one of their goals went off the refs knee, then off the post and off of bob’s back. Didn’t generate as many shots or high danger opportunities as I would’ve liked but we still suffocated them during many stretches of the game, pinned them in with the forecheck, still doing those things that made us successful. You’re going to lose some, never expect it to be easy and every game is circumstantial, sometimes you just don’t get the bounces. Enjoy the ride, guys. It’ll be ok lol

Remember Barky's the captain.

Sweep is too rude.

Gentlemen Sweep (5 games) is more polite.

I do hope their general attitude changes a bit.

I get being loose and having fun, but I hope, internally, that's just a front and they don't get lost in the moment. They need to seize this opportunity and close it out Friday

I’ll feel better tomorrow probably.

I still feel like we can get it done. But like I said earlier, the 4th game is the hardest to win
Yes but it gets even harder now when the opponent starts to believe that they can do it. Of course it's hard to lose four in a row. Therefore I believe for victory but this night was still a huge disappointment.

if there's any good to any of this, here it is.

we won six in a row in the playoffs, three against boston, and three against toronto. we have at least three more games to get a win. these guys have that amount of time to make whatever mental and strategic adjustments necessary to prepare and come back ready to play in the next one.

As funny as it would have been to sweep the Leafs, they weren't just gonna let Florida embarrass them without a fight. And even though they won and we played like dogcrap, it was still a close game.

Get back to work on Friday and finish them off.

Extremely disappointing result. We did not generate any offense all night. Zero sustained pressure. Made it extremely easy for Woll. It was one and done all night.

Barkov was terrible. He played a soft perimeter game and drove me crazy passing up prime shooting opportunities to make a bad pass.

Tkachuk was super quiet and also passed up shooting chances (a theme tonight)

Bob once again was fantastic.

Also, the f***ing lucky Leafs goal off the f***ing referee was the difference. Because of course it was.

Did we even generate one single quality scoring chance? Such a soft and weak game.

Quite sure this is a wake up call though. The bad thing: That doesn't mean we'll play better than them next game.

Here’s the issue - Matthews didn’t score tonight. He’s eventually going to wake up. If it happens on Friday, we are going to wish we took advantage of this game.

Barkov had one sequence where he could’ve taken the puck to the net in a prime scoring chance with minimal pressure on him and he literally slung it all the way to the point. It made me want to pull my hair out.

I just don’t understand why we were overpassing like crazy tonight and passing up shots on a rookie goaltender.

They are allowed to have some close-out jitters.

Most important takeaways are:
- we can count on Bob at any time currently
- keep the 4th line off the ice (huge advantage for TOR since all of their lines skate well)
- the Staals are cooked and back to their game from the beginning of the season
- in the end, it's the Lousto-Lundell-Reinhart line that will be the deciding factor

Little question/observation if you guys noticed it to: did McCabe throw a blattant retaliation crosscheck to Bennett's head in the last seconds of the game, and that is the reason we everything exploded?
