TSN turning point , Lowry hits the post with a great shot and the Wild come down and score . That's the save i want Helly to make for us , if he stops it we win that game or at the very least we pick up a loser point .

That was probably the goal I least blame on him.

I had predicted a 3 Dostoevsky game from the Jets in the pregame thread... post game that sounds about right although it might be closer to a 4. As the official keeper of this rating how many Dostoevskys do you give this game @kanadalainen ?

Winter is Coming
Im wondering if after the long playoff run last year they are taking it easy right now and will turn it on shortly... Perhaps the grind taught them something. Dunno but somethings off and has been for some time. Blaming Helle is crazy talk... U dont win these days by scoring 2 or less.. Not often.

Looks like effort, perhaps purposely? And perhaps a bit of frustration.. Wheeler took a bad tripping call after turning it over..

I think they need Buff back and a Top 4 LHD for sure.. Chia is a good 6th D. A defensively minded top 4 D.

Muzzin? Wonder what it would take.

The funniest thing happened this morning. I thought the Wild were in Winnipeg last night and thought those were the tickets I gave away to my friend, then asked him twenty minutes ago how the game was, and told me it was tonight. What's even funnier is I didn't even watch the game because I had a dinner to be at.

Winnipeg MB.
This team would be so much better with Enstrom playing Chiarot's top 4 spot and Chiarot being the #7 defensemen.

If we end up paying him 2 mil or something stupid like that it's going to be a huge mistake, I don't know how people don't see the Buff effect. He has carried Clitsome, Morrow and Chiarot into looking like solid defensemen and every single one looks bad without him. Kuli and Myers have at least shown decently when paired together, if we could get an upgrade to that left side and then role them out with Buff and have Kuli-Myers as the third pairing it would make me a lot more confident in this team.

I still think we have good enough forwards to win right now if Maurice uses them correctly. I think he is too stubborn with Scheifele-Wheeler. They are a great pairing, but try something else, you can always go back to playing them together.

The Minnesota game gets 4 Dostoevsky guys. The third period possession statistics lent an additional layer of _specially convoluted_.:huh::laugh:

I hope Myers is OK, I guess we find out soon.

- Helle is average. Not BAD, average. He was a Vezina finalist last year (should have won it IMO) and this year, he's average. He's not costing the Jets games but he certainly isn't winning us many, either.

Despite all this, we are ONE point off our pace ( last year after 43 games we actually won LESS 25-11-7) But sure, fire Maurice

_______________________________________________________

It should also be added we have 3 games in hand are only 2 points out of 1st place. If we won 2 out of 3 of those games, we'd be in 1st place, so no need to overreact here. We are also without 2 of our best 3 players in Buff and Ehlers, and still competitive.

We'll be there at the end, just like last year, and we also can beat the "Trap" type game, it just takes a lot more tenacity, and discipline, and determination. No lazy wins when you play a trap team -- you have to get thru all the roadblocks.

Keep dreaming. Laine has been an absolute joke. Little has been fine. I thought Little was actually decent tonight and very good last game. Roslo was decent both games. Which is impressive considering they are shorthanded every shift. Worse actually, because that non existant linemate gives pucks away all game
WOW...if anybody has been a joke, its been Little......he is nothing but a boat anchor on the second line...again the media is talking about the jets needing a second line centre and its Little doesn't cut it and never will. Laine has scored over a 100 goals in 2 1/2 seasons and more goals this season than last, more hat tricks than the rest of the jets, how many goals against were the top line on ice for against the Avs?..ehlers and conners have been moved up to the 1st line but Laine will never be allowed that and that is because of the coaching...the fans have a lot nerve of booing Laine in the Avs game, just shows how stupid and idiotic they really are....in a few years they could be cheering for a team like the oilers except the jets won't have someone such has McDavid,.....with all the one year bridge contracts the players are/will be signing, don't expect any of them(connors, morrisey, trouba, etc) to be around much longer....the goaltending is more of a problem than the scoring on the this team, with a .908 save percentage ain't gonna cut it in the playoffs and maybe its time to let Broissoit to run the net for a few games.

0-3 against the Wild.

On a positive note, they had zero shots against in the third. That’s pretty damn impressive. I hope they remember this when the puck drops tonight.
The Bruins have lost 14 straight games to the Capitals ... sometimes a team just has your number.
I hope every single team plays the trap against the Jets because eventually the coach and players were learn how to beat it.
Teams playing the trap are a disgrace to the league but hey until you beat it ... the losers will continue to play it.

Best player on the ice last night was Ben Charoit. It's pretty amazing how well he's playing this year, and the most I've heard on here, and on the radio about his play is that he's "actually been playing good". In my opinion, he's a sure fire NHL caliber defenseman.

His skating and puck control have improved leaps.
Yeah that one shift where he skated around and caused chaos for the Wild's very good defense was ridiculous. He looked like Byfuglien for about 30 seconds there. He's still lacking the creativity to capitalize on plays like that with any kind of regularity, but he's showing some good signs that he's not done developing.

The Wild played a desperate game, the Jets just aren't in desperation mode. I'm with KB that when the stakes are raised the Jets will have no problem laying out and breaking down that type of game.

Things I noticed,

Morrow just continues to be really bad. He was blown off the puck often and easily and consistently throws the puck into bad areas, extending D zone time for the team. I can't understand how he keeps getting trotted out there.

The Jets D was slow. The Wild forwards were quick and aggressive, the entire bottom 4 struggled mightily with it. They obviously really miss Buff but our overall speed with out 4,5,6 guys concerns me, even with Buff healthy. They have all been doing an admirable job lately but there are deficiencies.

If the Jets are going to try and get the puck low to high in order to get shots off, A. Get the shots through, and B. get someone near the net.

Perreault needs to help out Little.

Anyone else finding Sawyer increasingly annoying and downright wrong at times? Getting to the point I’m gonna have to watch other feeds because of his blind ignorance at times.
I've warmed up to him a bit, though he sounds kind of boring. I do find him knowledgeable about systems and strategies.
There's others I'd take before him, but he's not too bad.

If Maurice can not figure out a way to counter the Minnesota style of play in 3 games against them this season the loss is on him.

We lost the exact same way 3 times in a row and the Wild made us look like hot garbage.
Well, when you say it so emphatically, it must be true. A team as good as the Jets shouldn't look like hot garbage, regardless of the coach.

Maurice shares some blame in the loss, it's not all on him.

I get annoyed when he makes comments like “Laine missed the far side by a hair”, when in reality it went about 4 feet wide. It’s not that he’s bias that annoys me, it’s that he seems to go out of his way to do it for some reason. Guy is straight obsessed with Wheeler.

This is very astute, Gil

I think we as a fanbase are trying to understand what it's like to watch an elite team play. I'd bet fans of the Pens, Hawks, and Caps went through it too, figuring out that even the best teams are flat sometimes, are down sometimes, and just have poor luck occasionally. We are expecting our team to play at their peak level every minute of every game, and we ignore that there are 2 teams on the ice - the other of which might be desperate and have a lot more on the line than us on any given night.

I'd rather play at a 'season level' during the 82 games, have a few less points and more energy and health for the season that actually matters.

So playing Schefiele & Wheeler 26 minutes a night (while benching our 4th line) is going to make us more energic for the playoffs! Great theory, coach! I think your love for Paul Maurice is clouding your judgement.

Take alook at the last 3 Cup winners and the ice time their players get per night.

And Laine with Little doesn't work. Never has. If only there was someone in charge of our lineup who could change that up......

Copp played 11 minutes and the wingers played 7.

Scheifele and Wheeler played more because we were down. If your coach doesn't play your highest producing players when you are down, then he should be fired

I've looked at the box scores for LV and can't believe how even the ice time is across 4 lines some games, they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals for a reason!
