OT: The Wild Board Jukebox Thread: Part Deux

Took 2 months, but I finally gave this a listen. Vaguely reminds me of a couple Poets Of The Fall tunes. POTF would not be considered my normal listening vein. Little mellower and pop-ish than I'd listen to, but they're incredible musicians and, honestly they write great shit. I like this tune. Think I like most of what you've posted of theirs. Not sure why I haven't given them more of a listen.

[EDIT]: Think there is another song of theirs that reminds me more of it, but this is the first that came to mind. Like I say, the comparison is vague, but I sometimes hear weird shit no one else does.

I have never heard these guys. Not really hearing anything that reminds me too much of NFO, but I love this. Gonna check out more.

Video is kinda dumb though.

Like I say, they're a lot more mellow and most times there are a small handful of songs on the albums that don't do anything for me.

I actually dig the video. Marko (the singer) is pretty theatrical dude. Looks pretty demented at times in that jester getup.

This is probably their best known tune and the one that got them on the map:

[EDIT]: Also, they're apparently friends with someone closely assiciated with the game Alan Wake. They did an EP as an 'alternate ego' band called The Old Gods Of Asgard. That's more of a hard rock project. But, the song plays while going through part of the game.

Haha. I don't think I got far enough in Control to hear any music... but that band name was definitely mentioned a couple times.

Oh heck yeah. After the last solo record stinker this sounds awesome.

I didn't mind his last solo album.

This though, is really good. I went and listened to the first one (that I had no idea existed) and it sounds very close to early 90's Fates Warning.

Opening track from the first disc.

Also, found this today.

Wish I hadn't. It's gawd awful. I mean, even the cat said 'F*** this.' and bailed on her.

I will however say, while what she's doing is one of the most annoying things I've ever heard, what she IS doing is actually amazing. She is...singing? whatever it is, it perfect pitch with that guitar.

Dude!
I never wanted to be black out drunk more than now, thanks for nothing..

Seriously considering putting you on ignore after that. Count your lucky stars that you introduced me to another Ray A project I had no idea existed. You're safe.... for now.

Also surprised you didn't dislike the last solo, there was maybe 1 song i liked.

I'd pay money to get Ray back in with Redemption. Love Englund, but for some reason his vocals just don't fit with that band for me.

This classic from 1987 still gets played whenever there's a beer within arm's length. Many great bands came out of Denmark around this time. Not sure if they got played in the US though.
This album was a big hit in Europe.

I could not agree with you more. He just isn't a fit. Too bad that now that Matheos doesn't want to keep going with FW anymore, they couldn't work it out to have Ray come back. As far as I understood it, that was the issue is they needed him to commit more time to it and with FW they couldn't. IIRC they gave him an ultimatum.

They never really caught on here. I remember having the cassette tape for Future World. Bought it based on the cover. Pretty sure I listened to it a few times, but I went back a few years ago and don't remember any of those songs. Now I have gotten into them over the past 10 years or so. Moreso their newer stuff. Pandemonium, Motherland, Kingmaker and Undress Your Madness are all phenomenal. Sounds like Ken Hammer and Ronnie finally got their shit worked out. So hopefully they do something soon. I know Ronnie's been fighting cancer for several years now.

Side project of Ken Hammer's from about 2 years ago that I really liked:

Dude.... A-Z guitarist is Nick Van Dyk. Guitarist, song writer, founder of Redemption. Wtf lol. Just reunite the best form of Redemption, you don't need to create a whole new band

I want to know why Joop Wolters, the guy on the first album isn't known at all. The guy absolutely rips.

Ah, ok that makes more sense. Van Dyk was brought on after Joop (killer name) left or was kicked. Still though, I need another redemption album with Ray. Will have to check out the first AZ album to confirm Joop rips... sounds like it from that video you linked though.

I've heard the name of this band for years. I've never once listened anything they've ever done. I think I always assumed it was heavier than it is with vocals I wasn't going to like. I don't know if any of their past stuff sounds anything like these two songs, but holy shit. This is absolutely phenomenal. I'm super picky about harsh vocals, but this dude hits that spot perfectly. *Kind of* reminds me of Scar Symmetry, but only in the fact it goes from good, heavy and growly to crazy melodic. Actually, kind moreso like Soilwork I think is a better comparison.

[EDIT]: Ok. Seems my initial assessment was probably correct. At least regarding what I though they were. Went and listened to the EP before this one and that's exactly what I had assumed they sounded like and...not my thing. That's a pretty hard shift from one album to the next.

RATT unplugged with Michael Schenker on MTV. I know they played Way Cool JR, but it is not included in this clip. Michael filling in for Crosby who was sick. The year after he played with them on tour in Japan. I found a clip of them playing one of his big hits from UFO, Lights Out, but the quality was fan filmed with a potato.

Hey, it was probably around 1991/92 or so. Sooo, VHS baby! 😄

DnD inspired doom / power metal (ish) that doesn't suck? I'm in. Not Earth shattering by any means, but I'm digging it.

Not bad. Not sure it's interesting enough that I could listen to a full album, but it's decent.

Gotta be honest, wouldn't mind trying one of those Solar guitars. I like Ola and it's cool to see his company doing well.

Probably going to ruin my street cred here... but Bush's first album rocked my middle school ass. I still get pumped when I hear Machine Head.

I kind of like this song (lyrics are dumb as hell).

Dude, I just shared Poets Of The Fall. I'm pretty certain like 95% of their audience is HS/college age girls. If I didn't lose my metal cred card with that, I think you're safe.

Bush are good. One of the few 90's bands that came out I didn't dislike. I will say, they don't have an album that I don't have to skip at least a handful of tunes, but the ones I like, I really like. Rossdale's lyrics have a weird abstract quality to them. Always take a little bit to try and decipher what he's talking about. They were also shockingly good when they played at Rockfest a few years back. Having never seen them live, I was very impressed. He's a great frontman. Came out off the stage and had was beckoning people to do this follow the leader thing as he ran around through the audience. It was actually pretty cool.

Hands down, my fav tune of theirs:

Dudes. There's no such thing as losing your cred. You like what you like, no one here is judging.
Elitism is a bad thing. Just enjoy the music you like and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

I like this band, a fairly small and unknown band from Gothenburg. I have been at many thousands of concerts, but when they played at a local festival here in my town I had one of my best experiences ever.
I knew most of their songs by heart, so I was already a fan. But many of the others in the crowd was just curious and went to have a look "for just a couple of songs".
It ended up as a mass love fest, everone was just laughing and smiling, having the time of their life.
The singer, L-P Anderson, is so charismatic and had us in the palm of his hand.
At one point he was on the floor with the rest of us, singing his heart out and hugging people, spreading his love for the music.
At the after party he was so energetic and overall a nice person.
He's the biggest music nerd I have ever met, with a massive record collection. And what a voice.
