I am reposting this. The full album recently dropped and it is so incredibly good. They've been one of my fav music finds over the past year or so. One of those bands I can't stop listening to. Not sure if either of you listened to this tune a few days back when I posted it. It's weird. It's pretty damn dark. And (I think) It's super unique. These guys are excellent with getting deep with the lyrics. I could be off, but I really think you'll both like this a lot.

I've enjoyed them for a while now, but definitely need to be in the right headspace to listen. The clean vocals sometimes do it for me and at other times not so much. Super talented though regardless

I've heard them before. It's a danish band with a swedish drummer. I like it. It's the kind of music you should pay attention to, not just play in the background when you do something else.

Cant believe i missed this release. Love these guys. This album is just a masterclass of slow burn post metal. But listening to it just makes me wish Nilsson would make another Aoria album. Their debut was my favorite album of 2012 (or whenever it was it came out) and I still listen to it often. You f***ing Swedes can make some damn good music.

May or may not be your cup of tea, but I've been a DT fan since they had Charlie Dominici as their singer in the late 80's. This is the heaviest tune I've heard them do since 'The Mirror' off the Awake album.

Love the music, especially Portnoys drumming... but Labries singing is like nails on chalkboard to me

New Saor single dropped. I don't think anyone here other than me would consider themselves fans... but do yourself a favor and listen until the 3 minute mark. You may not love the first 3, but dang, you may like rest

Yeah, honestly that first 3 minutes was tough to get a grasp on. Kind of a weird mix and/or composition. I think I understood what they were going for, but it just didn't really mesh well. After the 3 min mark, felt like it kind of hit it's stride. Still a weird mix though. Really high in the mids. Also, can't say I really got into the singers voice. I definitely didn't hate the song overall, but it's like almost everything about it was...'almost there'.

New Halo Effect dropped today:

Yeah, it's a one man black metal project so the mix and production values are always going to be suspect if that's what gets you going. And it's a completely legitimate argument. It is however, with each release, one of the better one man black metal bands insofar as production goes..

And no argument about the vocals. They suck... but again, black metal lol

That Halo Effect.... love it

More about the vocals, not directed at you @MK9 , but more for anyone else that listens to this and are like WTF, vocalist is shit. I feel like black metal, especially atmospheric black metal (yup, I'm a nerd) is supposed to be just a complete epic raw wall of sound that completely assaults your ears. Then add in a band like this that can have that wall of sound, but also make it melodic and sound good...it really gets me. Only complaint is he didn't break out the bagpipes...

It's certainly not for everyone

I was meaning to come back to you with some of Ludwig's bands, but life got in the way. Anyway, this is another local band with a style of it's own. He was drumming for them for a couple of years. He never says no to a gig, and this band is a special kind of monster. The guitarist, Peter Huss, is an extremely talented guy and a really sweet person. Ludwig is a humble, kind and funny man.
But the singer, Niklas Kvarforth, is something else. I really like the music, though.
It might be a bit extreme for you, but somehow I think you maybe like it.

The dude doing the clean vocals is Håkan Hemlin, a very famous singer in Sweden. He is the singer of Nordman, a folk rock band.

Here is Håkan Hemlin, guest vocals on Prins Svart (Black prince), a swedish band with swedish lyrics.

Nordman was really the shit in Sweden in the 90's.

The older I get the more I find myself really enjoying black metal (the bands that have decent production values). The vocals from that vid will probably turn you off. But hear me out... this is going to sound dumb (not sorry)

Close your eyes. Unsquint those eyes. Relax. Forget about the vocals. Take the vocals, guitar, bass, and drum into your ear holes as one thing....

It's really good.

stop

I hate you ... this f***ing rocks and every fiber of my being tells me it shouldn't. Ugh.

Throw another like that again I may have to put you on ignore.

Edit. No ignore, this song is fun as hell. I think Faber is in there too

You've never heard those guys? They're hilarious. Which...they're German. Who knew Germans had a sense of humor?

I honestly don't think someone could watch those guys and not have their day improved significantly.
