When you wish upon a star... They released their new album today, The Star!
The album is themed around the end of the universe. Scandinavian melancoly.
Can't put a label on this one. Top ten album of the year for me.

It's Canadian (i think) black metal. But SIG:AR:TYR consistently put out really good stuff.

I'm very underwhelmed by the new Alcest singles. So much so that I'm not even going to post it!

Wow, that's some stuff I like!
Thank you so much for posting this.
Who would've thought your cousins of the north had that much swedish blood in them?

This is something you never knew you needed in your life, Viking Metal!
This is Månegarm, "The noose of gold", a legend of the Viking king Agne who slayed his Finnish enemy and aducted his daughter Skjalv to marry him. She was just planning her revenge and when the new day dawns he found his final rest high up in the trees.

While we're at it, why not listen to a song sung in the old norse language that the vikings spoke. This is Wardruna, Helvegen. A song about death, dying and remembering those who have passed. About crossing over and about letting go. It is a song about searching for lost songs and old traditions.

I got up at 6 am local time, arrived at work 6.30. Fridays we got to get home early, 1300 hours swedish time. I suppose that's 8 hours ahead of you. Slept for 2 hours after work.
I work at the european branch of an American company based in Indiana, manufacturing sunscreens and such. I have the privilege of choosing how much I need to work over the year, so I can watch the Wild during the winter. Right now it is pretty intensive, so usually I work 10-12 hours a day. But I love it, all my co-workers is insane.

You boys are getting a little off in the weeds on me here, lol. I like the fact that they're incorporating all that old world stuff. The music is good, but for me, I have to like the vocals. Lot of that gutteral stuff in the past few vids just didn't get me there. I get picky with gutteral stuff. The Wardruna, Helvegen was good though. Kind of in the vein of Heilung, but less primal, bit more...evolved.

[EDIT]: Also...I am absolutely addicted and in deep to Orbit Culture now. Man these guys are absolutely amazing.

Great band, great attitude and surely it was time to kick out the jams. It's nice to see the new generation appreciate them, these youngsters from Gothenburg celebrate the 70's sound, and look at the poster on the back wall.

Today was the first day of this year's Sweden Rock Festival. 4 days filled with music, 96 bands and some real classics show up this year. Canned Heat, Alice Cooper, Journey, Judas Priest and also this band, Spiders.

Another band from Gothenburg with their feet firmly planted in the 70's soil, Graveyard, is also playing at Sweden Rock Festival. I think they are f***ing great, I love them.

Speaking about soil

Do yourself a favour, check out their whole catalog.

So you like the groovy, doomy stuff? With clean vocals? And a singer easy on the eye?
Why not check out Avatarium, also on this year's SRF. Featuring Marcus Jidell, guitarist of Evergrey and his wife, Jennie-Ann Smith

And this is their first song, featured on their first EP, released back in 2013, penned by the great Leif Edling, the mastermind of Candlemass and also the founder of Avatarium.

I'm just gonna post this random Wardruna song, since one or two of you seemed to like the other one. This is Lyfjaberg, or "Healing mountain" a song in the old norse language. The lyrics in english doesn't do the song justice, but to be fair, the old norse is not easy for me to understand either.
Just go with the flow!

Another band from this year's SRF.

This is Lucifer, featuring Nicke Andersson, founding member and original drummer of Entombed. Among his other bands are Nihilist, Hellacopters, The Solution, Death Breath, Imperial State Electric, The Hydromatics and many more. He also toured with MC5 on their celebration tour of 2004 as a guest guitarist.

He's the drummer and his wife Johanna is singing. A couple of songs from their new album, Lucifer V, released this year. I love this style of 70's classic rock, and I love her voice.

Really, really digging these guys.

They remind me a bit of a band I used to listen to regularly from Australia called Voyager.

Cripes. Forgot how much I liked these guys. Have slept on the last few albums. Only thing I can guess is because I listen to so much stuff. But, so good. They really have the flow & melodies down.

Man. Their first single released was a banger. I haven't liked much of the others released, this included.

Wwwwhhhhhaaaatttt. I love Voyager. I love Solberg. I have NEVER heard this. I love it. Solberg shines, but it's very clearly Voyager and he's adapted his vocals to fit the band. This is fantastic
I had no idea they'd gotten as much attention as they have. I started listening to them back when 'I Am the Revolution' came out. Back when YT used to have a much better music algorithm and would just keep playing really good new stuff in the same style. They for some reason kind of faded out of my rotation shortly after 'V' came out. From what I can figure is they kind of blew up with that album. Ended up on Eurovision at one point even. Going back and listening to the stuff I missed of theirs over the past 10 years. Solberg really, really blends well with them on that song.
