They are on their way to having the best defensive showing by a (potential) SC finalist in many years (maybe since the 2008 Wings) primarily by keeping the Shot Attempt against really low.

Is it more puck possession or an aggressive forecheck?

Given that offense is winning championships as much as defense in the past few years, I was wondering if it is something that other teams might emulate?

The only reason they’re where they are is because Florida wasn’t in the east. Their road so far has been pillow soft. Montreal is too inexperienced and it shows. Vegas is going to maul them.
Heard the same about Montreal.

It's funny how after every team we whip, the goalposts continue to move about who sucks. A week ago it was the Metro that sucked and how anyone who came out of the Atlantic would kill us. Now it's that the entire East sucks and anyone who came out of the West would kill us.

And if Florida was this big bad team this year, maybe they should have.... I dunno, made the playoffs instead of... Checks notes... 3rd to last in the East

Do overtime wins count less?

We’ve been on the short side of MANY overtime losses over the past several postseasons. If they don’t count, why did it bother me so much? 🤷
The opinion you are referring to is just an attempt to belittle Canes’ achievements. I wouldn’t take it seriously.

The Habs won 10 OT games in the 1993’s Cup run. I am yet to see a post that that Montreal team somehow didn’t deserve winning the Cup because of this. It would be a preposterous claim!

All playoffs wins — including OT — count the same.

You’re on the same path as Florida in 23. Except Florida actually dummied way better teams. You beat Philly, Ottawa, and Montreal lmao. Pump the brakes. You can say whatever you want now that Floird isn’t there to maul you as per usual. You have 0 cups and Florida has 2 in that time frame. Injuries add up when you have deep runs, ECF failures. When Vegas dummies you in 4 I’ll be here don’t worry.

Canes have been a top 2-3 team in the east for a while now. Is it fortunate for them that the panthers were injured and Tampa was upset in round one giving them an easy path to the cup final? Sure.

But they are absolutely a worthy representative for the conference assuming they don’t blow this lead. The path being easy doesn’t take away from the fact they are an elite team
