When you're managing a team you need to address the little issues AND the big issues. You don't just do one thing at a time if you want to be a successful GM.

P.S. They're not for real this year IMHO. Need another top-6 LW and aside from Kampf, Aston-Reese, Holmberg and Jarnkrok (he should be bottom 6!) their bottom 6 is not playoff worthy. If they need to upgrade 3 forwards, Dubas should get busy now, not later.

Dead like this team, right?

I don't know why min league depth players get so much scrutiny. Yeah, he hasn't produced very well so far. He's been ok in terms of his play. He hasn't been an issue or had negative plays.
This fan base picks the weirdest players to obsess over both positively and negatively.

Malgin a league minimum 13th forward is the worst player in the world to some while trading Curtis Douglas who has 1 point in 18 AHL games this season was the worst thing to ever happen.

I feel like if we want to optimize him we need to pair him with a scorer in the bottom 6

Someone with a nice shot who can finish the chances he generates. When he was playing with Kampf and ZAR he drove play pretty well and could make things happen. Get him with someone who can bury. Maybe Jarnkrok?

Ship him to the Shabs where he will be the tallest forward on the team ….
Seriously , it’s all about the playoffs , and this type of player who offer’s literally nothing , nothing at all other than “ depth “ we don’t need anymore of that , we have lots of “ depth players “ . Enough with this non dimensional player .
If you’re a small player you have to either be a pest ( Galleger ? ) or a pure goal scorer ( the other shab player …
This player is neither …
I’m so tired of hearing about these types of players on our team …” depth “ “ cheap “ “ eats up minutes “ on and on and on , excuse after excuse …
You mean to tell me that there isn’t a player in our system or another organization that is young , hungry, can skate and actually plays physical??
One who brings it , shift in and shift out ??
Kampf is one
Holmberg is another
Steeves is another
Hell even Gaudette
I’m a big fan of Dubas and of our management team and mostly they have done a real good job at filling in the blanks ( other than a true top 6 LWer ) that’s a big fail thus far unfortunately!
But in this case 62 it’s more hockey politics , meaning , they desperately really want to save face on this horrible trade with Marchment went the other way … it’s ok shit happens , every GM makes mistakes , move on and cut your losses , I’d rather see this approach here used .
They are trying so hard to see if 62 will rise up , it won’t happen , especially in the playoffs.
Oh he will have a shift here and there or a game here and there like 47 but when the dust settles it’s back to Meh at best , feeble weak , uninspired hockey as always Hockey , it is what it is
Let’s truly grow up , enough with these experiments, with excuses ( when you have to constantly explain a players game , you really don’t have much ..
I’m ok with 15 as a 3or 4th liner at a way lower price tag , at least he skates and is somewhat engaged .
Out
62
47
15???
Let’s get big and strong men in the bottom six that can skate and are young
Playoffs is all that matters and these players will wilt as usual when it matters
Just think about this
Perry in the corner vs 62 ???? In the playoffs
Really think about that , every shift grinding in the playoffs
No contest it’s worth at least 1 or 2 goals in a series , which we all know is and has been the difference.

On the LW topic
I wish we took a chance on Kane

Imagine
Bunts AM WN
Kane JT MM
Knies Holmberg ( real man addition here )
Steeves Kampf ( real grown up man addition here )

Extras
Robertson
ZAR
19

Now that’s real depth that can play

You realize the habs are massive right? They have 5 forwards 6 3 or taller

I just can't see a lot being done right now. I doubt the leafs get a rental and they have some long term contracts to worry about finding capspace for
Matthews & Nylander in 2 years
Kampf, Bunting, Holmberg, Samsonov & Timmins next year. All will get increases
We probably have to find an adequate replacement for Holl if he is looking for a raise but I doubt it will be cheaper.

Until JT's contract is reduced, the team will need to go on a diet of prospects and I'm sure they want to get Knies in at the end of the year

It was just a play on words , recent history says they were based on Smurf like players
Anyway I’m explaining this , why , who cares my take was based on everything thing else …
In fact I explained that already ..
Phuqque the Shabs , hate them more than any other sports franchise ever …GLG

This is my first Malgin thread I believe.

What are you going on about?

I sort of thought based on this that it's your obsession...

I didn’t single you out specifically did I?
You really seem to struggle with the idea that people who don’t share your opinions are able to respond to posts you make or threads you post.

Malgin isn’t suited for the top six, that has become evident. That being said, he’s been very good in the bottom six. He’s also not one to shy away from the corners and often comes out best against much larger opponents. He must have a strong core and legs, as multiple times he’s bumped much bigger guys off the puck.

But, if you are going to upgrade this squad, he’s the one who goes first.

I don’t know that he is the first to go.
He doesn’t provide all that much value but he makes league minimum and you don’t care about his development if he sits as the 13th or 14th forward for long stretches.

I would think whatever forward gets moved out either has some value to the acquiring team or has more of a cap hit to make room for the team coming in.
The one exception I could see to that is if someone comes up from the Marlies and has an impact I could see him as one of the leading candidates to get sent down.

He's got some skills, but he's super small and absolutely does not have the speed to make up for it.

He's okay, but likely not as a regular, certainly not as a top sixer.

I think it's the opposite: I'm singling you out. I don't think I show an ounce of struggle here. Many people like Malgin, and others agree with me. A lot of people share my opinion. Now that I'm singling you out you have answer the question: what is your obsession with leaf fans who obsess about the weirdest players to obsess about?

;)

What are you going on about in this weird rambling post?

I'm willing to defend Kerfoot and Engvall, but Malgin just doesn't do anything. He can skate around an NHL game and works decently hard and can move the puck, but he's pretty much entirely incapable of establishing possession along the boards or getting inside to the scoring areas, with or without the puck.

This, he's an NHL quality skater but another soft smurf is not needed on this team. Zeroing in on line 2, you need a guy who can help JT on the cycle and open room for Mitch.

Malgin just accomplishes nothing.

If a league minimum player is the biggest issue the Maple Leafs currently have then they must finally be for real this year. You think if they get rid of Malgin they win their first playoff round in 10 years?
Pretty silly. Who said he was the biggest issue? The guy is big at almost nothing.

Why put down this thread, belittle, minimize it's importance?

That's the best I can do to make small jokes here.
