Are you just looking at stats?

Even watching last nights game, against a way heavier opponent, to me Malgin was impressive the way he used his body going into the corners against much bigger players.

Is he a top six forward? No. But he can be a solid bottom six. Maybe that’s with this team, maybe it’s with another team. If we had the chance to upgrade on him, I’d obviously do it.

He's effective at bottom 6 in the regular season, but I agree. In the playoffs ruleset with how shitty this league is, he's going to be super ineffective.

No specific trade targets in mind right now. Malgin just isn't the best fit there amongst the options on the current team IMO. (Jarnkrok currently being out obviously isn't helpful for the forward group overall)

I think it’s looking like he’s not a top 6 player and May never be. He’s cheap so no big deal to keep him around as depth. He’s played fine nothing earth shattering.

He's NHL calibre, based on his play should have twice as many goals and assists.

Would not be surprising to go see him a Barabanov level of success afterword. Another player who was more than fine in his stint here but the numbers didn't come right away.

Engvall looks more AHL level every week and is easily replaceable on the depth chart as well.

When you're managing a team you need to address the little issues AND the big issues. You don't just do one thing at a time if you want to be a successful GM.

P.S. They're not for real this year IMHO. Need another top-6 LW and aside from Kampf, Aston-Reese, Holmberg and Jarnkrok (he should be bottom 6!) their bottom 6 is not playoff worthy. If they need to upgrade 3 forwards, Dubas should get busy now, not later.

I’m a big fan of Dubas and of our management team and mostly they have done a real good job at filling in the blanks ( other than a true top 6 LWer ) that’s a big fail thus far unfortunately!
But in this case 62 it’s more hockey politics , meaning , they desperately really want to save face on this horrible trade with Marchment went the other way … it’s ok shit happens , every GM makes mistakes , move on and cut your losses , I’d rather see this approach here used .
They are trying so hard to see if 62 will rise up , it won’t happen , especially in the playoffs.
Oh he will have a shift here and there or a game here and there like 47 but when the dust settles it’s back to Meh at best , feeble weak , uninspired hockey as always Hockey , it is what it is
Let’s truly grow up , enough with these experiments, with excuses ( when you have to constantly explain a players game , you really don’t have much ..

I was REALLY looking forward to seeing him on team Canada in the Olympics. Bettman robbed me of one and covid the other.

I see him and McDavid having CHEMISTRY...

Which obviously leads to him eventually leaving for us once that contracts up lol
