Seems the Dadonov situation shares similarities to the Berglund trade. Perhaps there's a precedent and a similar Outcome will follow?

I asked the main boards about this, and was told:

"Berglund's agent didn't submit the list. Trade still went through. Berglund refused to report to Buffalo. They suspended him and Berglund ended up in Europe."

But it doesnt sound like this is a case of an Agent failing to submit Dadonov's List.

Either-way, I hope this handcuffs Vegas. Cuz you know... f*** Vegas :)

Why did we trade Nogier for a LD?
Even if he is = to Nogier, we need RD a lot more than left, even for the Moose.

Yeah, it's interesting because it sounds like the agent did submit it to Ottawa. Is it the agent's responsibility to report it to Vegas if Ottawa trades the player? I kind of doubt it, so does it become Vegas' responsibility to read the player's contractual terms or is it Ottawa's duty to inform Vegas?

Don't know who is at fault but could it be that VGK needs cap space to get a certain player in the lineup before they fall out of the playoff race and the only team that would dance was the Ducks list be dammed.

We've seen he didn't offer him up but I'm sure he took calls. I'd bet he had a price in mind and no one offered it so he kept him.

Yup, also in terms of keeping the player happy why would he say he was actively trying to move said player but couldn't.

If you're hearing what I'm hearing (and what Friedman has hinted at for a bit (and NRD (who has had a few WPG things right, like hinting at Maurice's resignation) has added on)), a shakeup is putting it lightly
just like he called appleton, oh no that was actually jason bell.. I honestly can't believe that people think nrd is legit all he does is guess or follow people and tweet what they tweet as soon as he can

9:57 pm: jason bell tweets he's hearing jets are getting appleton
10:03 pm: nrd I hear the jets are close to getting appleton

I mean I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to know that the org has to make calls within the next two offseasons on players who's contracts expire in 2023.

Dubois doesn't have a contract so ofcourse the org has to take care of that this summer.

Pretty dismal TDL imo.

+ Appleton is a plus.
- Smith hurts.
- Losing Copp for a couple 2nd round conditional picks. Ouch.
- Rental Sanford? Why...

Because this team is no longer a Playoff contender, were going to struggle to acquire and keep talent.

I have a feeling this is foreshadowing for what's to come this Summer.

PLD potentially signing is the only glimmer of hope we have.

If PLD's gone, this team is Toast.

The way you mention "conditional" 2nds makes it sound like the conditions reduce their value. In both cases, the conditions favour us.

Smith and Copp were not signing here.

Sanford cost only a 5th, but still a bit of a puzzle.

Signing PLD is a must.

Fair enough. It was an honest mistake. All i can do is provide a source and apologize for my nomenclature. Im incredibly sorry.

 Your description was entirely correct, in absolute terms. So was TSN's. But the phrasing seemed to minimize it. Just like leaving out the other 2 pieces in the trade minimize it. It isn't really two conditional 2nds. It is two 2nds, with potential upgrades.

I see it now Mort. It was an out of character post. I minimized the return.

It makes complete sense. getting a mid round pic does what ? We are still fighting for a playoff spot.

But are we? Still a very long shot. But Chevy thinks that long shot is worth whatever we lose by not trading Stastny. Not a bet I would make.

This team has some major soul searching to do this offseason. I reckon they have one more chance at going it with this current core before they decide it's not good enough. That's when Wheeler, Fefe, Lowry, and Hellebuyck all come due. Get a new coaching staff and see if you can't make diamonds out of coal this off season. You also need to address that defense.

We have Lowry for 4 more years.
Wheeler, Scheifele, Hellebuyck, Dillon and DeMelo are all signed for 2 more years.

With my lawyer hat on, I'd say it is Vegas' responsibility to read the contract they just bought.
There would be an ethical expectation that Ottawa would inform them but Caveat Emptor is a real thing.

From the little bit that has been reported tonight, it sounds like the player/agent were only obligated to submit the list to Ottawa in July last summer and they did that. Anything else would be on the different teams involved to do their due diligence and know what contractual obligations they had to the player.

Either Ottawa was supposed to tell Vegas that he had a 10 team NTC and failed to provide the list of teams, or Vegas was obligated to ask for the list when they traded for him.

There really isn't any way that it could be the player/agent's fault if the list was properly submitted to Ottawa on time, and I dont see how the NHL could ever approve this trade without violating the players contractual rights at that point. If they tried to do it, the player and the NHLPA would probably take it to court which is something im sure the NHL wants to avoid.

I think we did really good. We got three picks and a prospect for a player we knew wasn’t going to be back. We got a pick in return and off loaded Little’s LTIR for a prospect who we were going to lose for nothing. We got Appleton who is a great bottom six forward who can add some offence which we’ve been solely missing in the bottom six, and a guy in Sanford who played a big part on St.Louis’s cup run in the bottom six. We positioned ourselves to maximize assets for the future but not completely give up on the season at the same time. All things considered I would give the trade deadline a B, maybe a B+
