Ok, yes I know its never going to happen. Yes I know they are not trading him ever. Yes I know and if they do he certainly isn't going to want to come to Winnipeg

But Lets just play a game were he does request a trade and he does decide that he indeed wants to come to Winnipeg. What is a realistic value for this type of deal?

2025 1st, 2026 1st + Brad Lambert + Elias Salomonsson. Is that enough?

Crosby would be a great add, but this thread will be a tire fire.

The demands will be for more than any other player has ever got, and no team will blow up their roster or gut their prospect pool like that.

Hmmmm... I love the idea of Crosby on the Jets for a couple of Cup runs but no chance that he agrees or that the Pens contemplate trading him.

But looking at value, that is a very big futures package from the Jets. I would imagine that the Jets could get a huge haul if they put that on the table and could acquire a couple of very good roster players for that. Lambert and Salomonsson are the Jets' top-2 prospects, and then you add a couple of 1sts.

I think the Jets might be persuaded to trade Lambert now that they have Yager in the pipeline. But I highly doubt that they will trade Salomonsson unless it's for a big haul. He's looking like a good top-4 RHD, akin to Samberg but with more offense. Jets really need that in their pipeline.

I am glad that Crosby signing an extension and committing to finishing his career with the Pens 2.5 months ago stopped the HF fantasies of Crosby playing for your favorite team.
Right, and I'm sure an ultra competitor like Sid can't wait to waste his last years languishing in a dumpster fire. Not to mention I'm sure Dubas loves that idea too, why get a boatload of prime assets for your best player when you can just do nothing and waste him. Players say all sorts of BS to the press daily, but logic usually prevails at the end of the day

If he ever does want to move on, I think Dubas will be accommodating. Don't think it would be something insane since there's likely very few teams he would agree to go to anyway.

Crosby isn’t stupid. This team has been bad for 2 years and now it’s really bad. He knew that going into the season. He just signed for 2 more years.

He has said since the start that his goal is to be a one franchise player. Why would he change that now? He has no trophies or achievements to chase.

He is not leaving the team, for better or worse

No. Good prospects but they are still magic beans. I think the Jets need Vilardi in the package. Pens need an actual player they can potentially build around. His RFA status also lets them commit long term. Jets could benefit by avoiding that contract dance. Perfetti might be better but I feel like WPG would balk.

IMO, Pens will send Crosby wherever he wants to go, and will demand a decent, but not exorbitant price in return. He will certainly not be traded in division, and probably not even in Conference.

Not saying that Crosby wants to be traded. Up till this year i would say that he would stay in PIT till the end of his career, but he's got to see that PIT isn't competitive, and won't be for years. He's got to be frustrated out there. Seems to make sense to me for both PIT and him for him to move on.

I will throw MN's hat in the ring as a competitive team that could really use his skills, has a couple of killer linemates primed and ready to go(Kaprizov and Boldy), and a 2C that can take all of the defensive assignments(JEE). They will also be out from under their cap penalties next year, freeing them up to sign a FA or two. Crosby would know Guerin extremely well (hopefully that's a good thing?).

MN has a good prospect pool. I would make everyone but Buium available.

Sure, keep telling yourself that, I'm sure he's totally fine with wasting his last years. I know what he said and I'll eat my hat if he's still saying it by TLD next season. He knows full well what a haul he could get for Pit and if he actually cared about the franchise, he'd absolutely ok a trade next season and I'll bet piles of money he will

Once he decides to leave he will be thinking about himself and his new team, not how he wants to strip his new team of talent to benefit the team he is leaving. Make no mistake, Crosby is very competitive, still, and will see this very clearly.

I like the conversation and think the hyperbole is ridiculous.

This team sucks - and worse, the organization is inept (and sucks).

It's worth the discussion to say - hmm - maybe Sid shouldn't celebrate milestones on 6-1 losses. Utterly insane and gross this team is so bad and we're clipping highlights of Sid's twilight on it.

I think we SHOULD discuss trade options and who makes most sense and what assets the Penguins could get in return. I know these often get shut down but they shouldn't be at this point. This team is going nowhere and there's no reason Sid should just sit here and win 30 games a year for the next 3 years while Sullivan rotates out his PK grinders and Dubas watches youth hockey.

If Crosby ever decides he is willing to move, he will only allow a trade to the Avs or Canucks. Possibly the Leafs or Rangers. And if it is only 2-3 teams, the return will not be what many will hope it will be.

The futures he will garner won't handicap his new team, but we certainly agree there will be a new team one day
