This weather just makes me wan't ski season so bad.
This is my least favorite time of year. Cold, but not cold enough for snow.
My ideal climate would be 75 and sunny the last day of summer, then the next day it's 25 and snowing.
Only 29 days till' the Warren Miller movie.
Killington opened up this past weekend lol three trails are open and from the videos it looked surprisingly good
I know a guy who skied at Wolf Creek last week on opening day, he said it was nuts. They had a few hundred acres open, because CO has been getting hammered early.
This is the weather when bucks start moving. I wait for the last week of October and the first two weeks of November all year. This is my least favorite time of year. Cold, but not cold enough for snow.

I used to go to wolf creek all the time - went to unm for a year and taos wasn't open to snowboarders yet - and it has the best consistent powder I've ever ridden. I believe it averages the most annual snowfall of any hill in the lower 48.I know a guy who skied at Wolf Creek last week on opening day, he said it was nuts. My gf is already trying to put the coat on the hound and I've been vetoing it since last week. That's what I get for dating a southerner.I've heard someone call it "frigid" outside today.
If you think today is frigid, then I hope you have plans to move in a month. If it were January today would be downright pleasant outside.

I drive about 7 miles to work and this morning there were 4 dead on the road in that distance.Seen far too many deer on the roads for my tastes.

Wouldn't mind a nice weekend trip out there coming up
It really makes me sad. One of the biggest bucks I have ever seen in New Jersey was where The Hills are now in Bedminster. So many places gone forever. This state is ridiculously overpopulated with deer.
Not enough hunters, and during the last 30 years whole swaths of New Jersey have been turned into deer habitat (aka developments bordering woods).

Staten Island has it real bad right now. They keep multiplying, the deer can't exactly cross highway bridges or swim across shipping channels, and it goes without saying that there's no hunting inside of New York City limits.
Sorry man, but even for Stanten Island that's a looney tunes idea. It has nothing to do with politics. There's no reason they couldn't have a lottery for permits each year and have wildlife management hunts inside all those parks and golf courses on Staten Island (which is why they have the problem), but for politics.
We're doing a western ski trip this season, I just dont know where yet as I wait to see who gets the goods.
B) those parks are not nearly wide enough to guarantee the safety of residents if people are shooting rifles that can take down bucks in them

A) I highly doubt bow hunters would make a significant dent in the population
B) those parks are not nearly wide enough to guarantee the safety of residents if people are shooting rifles that can take down bucks in them
C) how and for how long do you safely close public parks for and unleash enough hunters to take down enough deer that it effects the population to a significant enough degree?
Staten Island may look like the suburbs in comparison to the other 4 boroughs, but it still has almost as many residents as Newark and Jersey City combined. I just don't see how it's feasible.
Look at it this way: Texas has a significant feral hog problem that moved in to North Texas years ago, yet Dallas still has a ban on hunting even though the problem grows annually. Dallas, TX. If they're not leading the charge in controlled urban hunts you're unlikely to see it anywhere, ever.
One last thing on safety - most people who hunt with a bow and arrow have truly invested the time to become proficient. There aren't you many yahoo's who pick a bow on a whim, it is not really feasible as a certain level of skill is required for entry. With that time invested a whole culture and believe system evolves...An ethic if you will.
Well anyone can pull a trigger. The majority of the population wouldn't be able to even string one of my bows.heh, if only everyone who owned weapons were "proficient" and had "skill." what a concept.
