Let just say that our intention is to leave Montreal around 9:00, which will mean that I should be around Jersey at 4:00. So I should be on those routes from 12:00 to 4PM I guess. As I will be on I-87 before that.

be careful when you drive through Maryland. They have speed cameras in the workzones and will send you a ticket if you speed through the zone. They have signs posted saying that they have them so just keep your eye out.

I got one and am not too happy about it

Thanks.

Change of plans now.....I've been told not take i-87 and i-95 as it's too crowdy. So I'm not going the Pennsylvania route from the I-81. I guess everything is the same as far as how to deal with speed anyway. Just wondering which hotel I should stay in to sleepover but that's another story. Thanks to all again.

If you've never been to Jersey Whitesnake, try not to judge our great state from what you see on the Parkway and Turnpike  Most people see just swamps and industrial factories and assume it's disgusting and the "armpit of America".

Where are you going in North Carolina? The reason I ask is because NC is a HUGE state. I-87 is not a crowded highway. I-95 can be, which is why it's smart to swing through Harrisburg, but you dont have to go all the way west to I-81 to do it, especially if you're eventually headed to the beach (i.e. east).

speaking of driving in NJ, do you still have to take a right to turn left? LOL

This cost me several doublebacks when I encountered some after where I wanted to turn while some were before where I wanted to turn and could never figure out a consistent pattern.

I dont know if the Jughandle is a uniquely Jersey thing, but I know it's most identified with New Jersey.

Supposedly the point of them is to cut down on potential T-bone accidents, but I have no idea if that's true or if there's any data to suggest if it works.

At a cursory glance, you'd have to assume it does. It also helps ease congestion on people sitting far left waiting for the arrow even though the left lane is the 'fast' lane... In theory, at least.

whats up guys i come in peace. I am from ny and just got offered a job at Teterboro airport 20 min ago. the commute for me is an hr and a half this means i will need to move closer. I do not know the area at all and was hoping some one could point me in the right direction as far as a good location to live preferably a 20 min drive to Hackensack as thats where teterboro is located.

Depending on your $$ situation, apartments and housing aren't the cheapest in this area, however Hackensack has a ton of high rise apartments and condos to choose from over near Beech Street Summit, Prospect, and its surrounding areas

Some good delis and such in that area and wouldn't be a bad commute for you at all

Here in the rest of the US, we have special turn lanes that start like 100 feet+ back of intersections that allow for this.

It also created a middle turn lane for all other traffic to pull into a private drive without hindering the rest of the traffic flow. :sarcasm:

When you say you're from ny, are you doing that thing where you assume that "ny" means NYC, even though New York State is about 300 miles long and 300 miles wide?

If so, I assume you enjoy city living, but if not, I'd live as far west as possible while still being 20 or 30 minutes from the airport = much less crowded, and more reasonable rents.

i should have clarified i live in northern westchester where my commute is 1hr15min with no traffic. but there will be on either the tap or gwb.

Waiting patiently for our realtor to get back to us so we can start the house hunting process...a baby, a house...man this grown up thing is scary!

You don't put mayo or lettuce on Taylor Ham. That's insane. American cheese, ketchup, salt, pepper and that's all.

Taylor ham is vastly different then the ham your thinking of my friend.

ketchup????

I don't even put ketchup (or catsup) on a burger unless it's a crappy burger. And in what sense is this vastly different than the ham I'm thinking of? Is it not cured, salty and delicious?

FTW

(we should move this to the TaN)

you put a fried egg, american cheese, salt and pepper and ketchup if you like it (i dont but some do). thats how you do it.

It is all those things but the taste and texture of taylor ham is not that of your typical lunch ham. It's like...a spicier cross between Canadian bacon and spam more then ham. And no diner I've been to serves it with mayo/lettuce.

Edit: Alright we'll take this food debate to TAN. Lol.

Don't worry. I was born in Montreal, just live nearby now but Montreal can also have his ugly side...every city does or almost. By the way, I've been to Jersey and New York before. And I liked it very much.

Going to Nags Head. My CAA agent, which is the equivalent of the AAA, told me to go through this route....I-81, 66, 17 and then I-95. Understand after I'll go through 64 and then along the coast.

It's not really like deli ham. It's more like Canadian bacon.

Taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a roll. Salt, pepper, hot sauce.

And you can only get it in NJ, really.

this stuff?

Looks like chopped ham to me, which is very close to SPAM which someone else mentioned. Canadian bacon is just a really lean bacon cut from the loin that is nearly identical to regular ham.
