"Listening to Overdrive tonight it was brought up the O'Reilly could not believe that when on the road for the playoffs in previous years the leafs as a team did not go out for team dinners. Everyone ate room service or at the hotel. ROR made it mandatory. It's clear from his comments about the coaching to his reaction to the room he wanted no part of being here. That is concerning... It's also concerning that 91 has allowed this to permeate under his watch. Maybe there is a reason as a captain he has two playoff wins in 15 years. The lack of leadership is worrisome. Hope Reeves is the guy who can be this teams version of Tie!"

The "Core" has been here together for what 6 years now? How can there be such a lack of camaraderie? Some might say "it's really no big deal" which may be the case for other teams, but it's not for this team. Guys like Matthews and moreso Nylander are literally allergic to scrums. No one is saying go in and rock a guy but for the love of god atleast take a man. As it's stands though, it looks like everyone is just teammates. They aren't brothers, they aren't comrades, they're just guys put together to maybe try and win a cup.

JT looks like a meh captain more and more every season. How is the cultural so non existent on your watch? I imagine this guy is a wet rag who use to only lead on the ice. Now he can't even do that. Bringing in Reaves is nice but are the $10M+ guys just going to let some grinder come in and change their locker room ? I honestly don't know, but I wouldn't count on it. This "team" is literally just high level, top end skill and not much else. Hearing this just doesn't give me alot of faith these guys can get it together.

First I've heard of this on the road dinner thing, but maybe I missed it. And I don't recall hearing ROR making any comments about coaching or his 'reaction to the room'. That first paragraph just sounds like the guy just collected all the clickbaity, nonsense headlines he read on the internet and formed an opinion based on that.

It was on Overdrive yesterday, Peter Holland commented about it as well.

Everyone on the team says they are super close, so that is the other side of your opinion from sources inside the room.

ROR is not exactly who I'd trust on character, he chases money amongst other issues he's had.

Not sure how anyone can make a judgment without being in the room, maybe your analysis is spot on, or maybe you have no clue.

Useless thread and beaten to death by everyone in this forum who has no clue.

Guess you’ll have to show me one troll post then in the leafs forum,
In general the point being made is why do you even post here? You troll Leafs fans all over the main boards in almost every Leafs related thread then feel the need to post here. Just a bit strange.

Oftentimes we get thread banned or section banned for dropping into other team's section with posts or likes.

Usually it’s correcting / answering CBA questions, trades, those type of things, and in the off season.
Years ago I’d engage with dekes, but learnt that was a waste. Cheers.

Hockey has changed a lot over past few years .. hockey is not religion for most of these kids today .. guys don't go through walls for da coach anymore .. no one taps you on da shoulder .. guys are more concerned about getting their contracts before they exit hockey .. before we played to make da show and that was what it was all about .. ya died trying while most never made it .. it is cultural and societal too as things have gotten much softer and more legal as time passes on .. there are not as many nasty pricks who play anymore .. skill rules da day .. hooking interference and smash into glass heads up does not cut it anymore .. it is just a different game

There is a comment from either player or Keefe that it was the first time they all had dinner together this playoffs.
Then you have what Reaves said about he heard the room is quiet and that he won’t allow others to break into groups and will do stuff together.

Yeah the thing about this being the first time the team had dinner on the road together is 100% true.

When I first read that, it bothers me that, didn’t they played during COVID bubble and a semi lockdown playoffs the following year. How can that be the case

Why does it matter? It may be as simple as some players like to eat certain foods. Everyone says it is not cliquey and that is what we should be worried about. Who cares if you are sitting 15 feet from someone on the other side of a massive table... is that bonding? If there were issues within the team I am sure we'd hear about it.

I guess in 20202 in the Toronto bubble there were some restaurant options at the hotel, but probably pretty limited and more likely it was more takeaway, and then in 2021 we were in lockdowns and most places were closed, IIRC.

And what was their source?

Remind me why you feel the need to post here when you're one of the more consistent Leaf trolls on HF?

If we trolled the Sens forum like he does ours, we'd never hear the end of it.
These are really great points. I'd love to hear an answer on why this is allowed when anyone with a Leafs avatar catches an infraction if they post in another team's sub.
