Post-Game Talk: The streak... is over! - Habs win 4-2 vs Florida

Call me shocked by this win, floored. I was expecting 0-4 after losing against the Flyers. 1-3 was as essentially what I was expecting, but against the wrong team.

And to think the rest of the teams are flopping badly. Weirdest race for a playoff spot I’ve seen. I would have expected that in the CFL.

Couldn't watch the game. I'm so glad they ended the streak & beat Florida!

I managed to catch the last 2 minutes & saw Gallagher's empty net goal & Mikkola's idiotic slap shot where he almost took Savard's head off. What an asshole.

I seriously think Hutson & Suzuki are going to lead us to a Stanley Cup one day. Hutson seems to have energy for the whole team & then some. Kid has been outstanding regardless of the losing streak.

Let's win Tuesday & sweep Florida!

It’s funny when Arber is in this lineup, you rarely see any player from the other team taking liberties.

First night Arber isn’t there inna long time. Guess what happens? A cheapshot

on Friday night, Anderson got blown up rather embarrassingly with Arber on the ice. Nothing happened to “save face”. I like X a lot, but he doesn’t deter anything

That big bitch Mikkola deserves his face caved in
We have mountain snipers on his tail, word is getting around as we speak. :sarcasm:

All they have to do is get that 2C. Demidov will be able to carry a line by himself but he still needs competent linemates. Replace Dvorak with Evans and have a third line of Newhook, Dach, and Heineman? And I do believe they'll be able to be more consistent offensively next year
I was about to comment the same. The key really is that 2nd line mature center. I'd be ready to overpay for a 24-25 year old true 2nd center with room to mature.

Add Demidov and we're set for the top 6. Then clean house (Gally, Dvorak, Armia?) And build 3rd/4th lines like Newhook-Evans-Heineman and Roy-Kapanen/Beck-Anderson. +Reinbacher taking Savard's role. Still some maturing to go but we're close to a finished product that can compete with the best. Then comes Hage, Florian, Tuch and Fowler... dang... later maybe Protz and Thorpe?

We got Dach (I'm done), Volokhin, Konyushkov, Engstrom, Mailloux etc + multiple 1st and 2nd picks to trade for that 2nd line center.

Let's go HuGo, make it happen!

Gally is still very useful when the team is winning, especially now that he's healthy and obviously motivated because of personal reasons. + His big contract is not really hurting the team atm and even next season.

I agree, might as well let him finish the contract but once it's over it's over. This season he's doing fine, the previous 2-3 seasons were a real struggle.

The east was the same last year. The caps backed into the playoffs.

I think the habs are in big trouble though, despite the win.

The goaltending has to be air tight but its just so far off right now that I don't see enough runway to bring it back to where it needs to be in order for this team to successful.

Hutson is winning the Calder. What he's doing this year is historic and he's cementing himself in the Makar/Hughes tier of dman as a rookie. It's insane.

I just dont think it's in the bag.

If the habs make the playoffs, I'll be more certain of it. I think voters do have a bias towards playoff players versus non playoff players and the other candidates are likely not making it.

If hutson misses the playoffs, then I think his perception of a one dimensional player might sting him, despite the historic numbers he is putting up. It is inherently more difficult for a dman to win this thing.

The recent odds I saw didn't even have hutson as a favorite and that is as leading the league in rookie scoring.
