i pretty much agree with everything but i think Reinbacher graduating mid-way through really depends on how he comes back this year. he was expected to miss 5-6 months which is somewhere between March 1st and April 1st.I know there were a lot of comments in the PGT about who to re-sign and who to get rid of. It's probably more appropriate in this thread because it does have something to do with the rebuild and the next step we are taking.
If I look at likely graduates to the team next year, you've got Demidov as an absolute lock. Reinbacher as someone who if they aren't there to start the year, will graduate mid-way through. I also expect that Kapanen will make it as he cracked the line-up out of camp and will have another pro year under his belt after Sweden.
Other candidates would be Davidson, Engstrom, Mailloux, Tuch and Beck.
Obviously you can't graduate too many players too soon or you'll end up looking like we did to start the season which is destroyed by our own inexperience.
The problem then becomes how do we get rid of Gallagher? I think we have enough picks with the cap going up that we can identify a rebuilding team like the Sharks to pay them to take Gallagher for the remainder of his contract. We need to free that spot up.
- Pezzetta is all but gone.
- Dvorak will leave and shouldn't be re-signed. However, for a 13th forward, you pretty much have to sign some veteran left shot center because our only option can't be Newhook to take those strong side draws.
- I would re-sign Savard on a one year deal, cheap, to be the 7th defenseman. He's right shot insurance for Reinbacher and buys time there.
- I would re-sign Jake Evans.
- I would re-sign Armia on a one year deal at a discount from his price now.
That leaves this as a projected line-up to start next season.

if he comes back in April, he will only get 9 games in before the AHL playoffs.
if he comes back in March or earlier, he'll get over 20 games before the playoffs.
are those 10-20 games plus the 40 he would get from October to January 2025 enough to make the move to the NHL? i'd say yes based on what we saw in his AHL stint at the end of last season, but it took Dach, an NHLer, 40 games to come back from significant missed time.
i wouldn't be surprised if Reinbacher needs all of next year in the AHL. if that's the case, i'm not sure what the move is for the D next year. maybe Mailloux gets a Barron-like trial until Reinbacher pushes him out.
