OT: The Soccer Football Thread (USA, RBNY, PL, etc.)

I thought those games (until the Final next week anyway) were only on Apple TV+...shame the entire league is hidden behind a paywall, I would have gotten into this playoff run more.

At least all the NY Liberty games were on ESPN, this run has kind of a similar vibe to that - local original team that had never won a championship, only the Liberty were a favorite most of the playoffs, and the Red Bulls have come out of nowhere to turn the playoff choker narrative on its head a la the 2018 Caps.

I love Apple TV because the picture quality is so good.

They are the lowest seed ever to make the finals. 7th seed. Previously only two 5th seeds have made the finals and 8 4th seeds.

I never, ever expected them to get this far and I'm still shocked they didn't get swept by Columbus.

The way the front office treats us is night and day compared to the Devils. I haven't paid for a single playoff game I've attended this season(I only missed game 1 in Columbus because I don't like the format and was only going to travel to Columbus for game 3 if we had to play that game) They paid for our home game vs Columbus, our road game vs nycfc and last nights game vs Orlando plus a $25 concession stand credit per ticket and I'm sure they will do something special for us for the final too.

I'm booking my flights soon, I was there in Los Angeles in 2008 back when they use to do neural zone venues for the finals when we lost to Columbus in the cup final. Really hoping they can surprise me again since I've thought they were gonna lose every game this round so far. I still expect nothing outta this final. Los Angeles has been so ridiculously good at home, lost only 1 game I think at home. Gonna be so stressful and tough.

I saw a tweet that claimed Cangy sounded like he was damn near in tears calling the end of the game. I don’t follow soccer and don’t know if anyone would happen to have the clip, but I still have love for Candy and would love to hear the call if anyone has it.

Nothing but respect for Cangy. I think he decided to do Red Bulls games full-time because he just likes calling soccer more than hockey. Certainly one of the better American voices for the sport.
