So most of you here, wouldn't switch Slaf for Cooley if that was offered tomorrow?
Would rather a svelte first liner producer than a big guy who you have to prod and hope he moves his feet, shoot the puck, play the body. Many of these big guys don't end up doing it regularly. The few that do are obviously unicorns. I'll play the odds.
While Slaf's upside is undeniably more interesting -- and we'll know if and when he performs in the playoffs -- Cooley is on the verge of lapping Slafkovsky's career points in 40 fewer games. That says a lot. Given their size difference, I think that's damn cool for Logan Cooley and he's on track to become a protagonist in the NHL, the star of his line, while Slafkovsky is still not on that track. Would go with Cooley.
Cooley shows a lot more dynamism in his game, variety of plays, decision making, shooting, etc. I catch his highlights so I'm probably missing his warts so it's not a "scouting report" sort of comment but rather what I see in the players. At this moment I think it's only rational to go with Cooley if given the option.
