Because anyone with eyes can see that Dach drags down his linemates and people are pointing it out? That's wrong and mean apparently. Obsessed is cute from a guy with 32k posts.
Cool, but Slaf looked flat on every line he played until recently, whether it included Dach or not.

Slaf just wasn't playing with intensity until a couple of games ago. Again, that is okay.

I am not sure what 32k posts have to do with people looking for someone to blame for Slaf's performance. I am very bullish on Slaf's potential, but it wasn't Dach's fault he wasn't working on any line until recently. He just wasnt playing with the intensity and urgency that made him successful last year.

it's a game of seconds, you can't take it easy in this league. Slaf will learn, he's a smart player.

No one cares
It's new lol, go to BMW Montreal and try to buy that car, they probably don't have it in stock and will have it shipped from a dealership in Canada that does have it in stock. The guy drove it down from Kingston and took the opportunity to advertise his dealership.
He will face questions about a car purchase from the media, you know it's going to happen. "I don't care what you guys think about my car purchase, I just focus on getting a deal wherever I can".

Most likely he bought that car in Montreal at the BMW dealership on Décarie. They shipped it in from Kingston. Because they didn't have it in stock here in Quebec. That's how it works.

Yes, Dach was 100% the reason Slaf has had a 'bad' year. I've been sounding the bell for most of the year to get Slaf away from Dach .

Go check his stats with and without. In fact, both Suzuki and Caufield had a 4 game pointless streak this year, I wonder who was on their wing for 3 1/2 of those games? You get one guess. Nick's next longest drought is 2 games, Cole's is 1 game.
There it is, watching Slaf kill play after play with terrible random passes and just throwing the puck away as soon as he gets it is all dachs fault or so the stat watchers think. Try watching a game or two.

I think it is worth admitting that Dach has held Slaf back this year, Dach has hurt everyone he's played with this year. This isn't even dumping on the guy or saying he will suck forever, it is just the current truth.

But obviously the main reason for Slaf's bump in production is because he's playing on the top line. The main reason for his drop in production was because he was taken off the top line. It's probably true that he can't create offense on his own yet, so his bump isn't because he magically changed the way he plays or started working harder, it's because he's playing with actually good players.

Yeah good job comparing 2 different players who had 2 entirely different problems. What a amazing comparison. Also very astute deduction that Dach is struggling. Everyone has said it would be a hard road back for him and of course since he's struggling you have decided to blame him for everyone else's struggles as well. Slaf playing like shit is now fixed because he can sponge off our best players and not be dragged down. 😆
Can’t wait for the goalposts to change for Dach. First he’ll need 10ish games. Then no it’s 20ish games. Then it’s 30ish games. Finally the defenders will say it’s an injury that no one has ever recovered from

Also they conflate his detractors as wanting him to be a PPG player when all we ask is he doesn’t play like the worst player in the NHL

Funny you say Slaf needed those two to produce. Like Newhook was tearing up the league on that line. Its almost as Slaf is a really good player on his own

Do I really need to pull quotes from fans saying how Slaf looked off even when playing with Nick and Cole at the beginning of the year? Or when Cole got pulled from line and he still was playing with Nick. Or his play on the PP looked flat even 9 games ago when Dach was pulled from the 1st unit.

Again everyone is looking for someone else to blame when Slaf just wasn’t there effort wise.

It’s only the latest stint that he’s playing with gusto again.

Newhook was playing very well on that line but you wouldn't know because you don't actually watch any games. 😆

Anybody who expected Dach to take 10 games to shake off the rust is either out of their mind or totally clueless as to the kind of severe injury he suffered. But you just wrote in the other thread that you'd only give a marginal raise to Evans so I think your takes are not realistic

Sorry I expect guys to not be the worst in the league at their respective positions. My fault.

And the Evans post, take it up in the Evans thread. He deserves more than what I’d offer him. I hope he gets it. But I wouldn’t give it to him. If you couldn’t decipher that, it’s not my fault.

Yeah his zero points was incredible. But you’re impressed by Dach who has 1 in his last 15 games. But yeah, really getting better as the season moves along.
Yup the stat sheet hero is here to tell everyone numbers are very important when determining if a player is doing anything or not.

It's like some people have no idea how physical activity or sports works. Even mentioning 10 games is insane and just admitting you have no clue.

There was one very vocal poster in the Dach thread that insisted ACL surgery was nowhere near as serious as before and that he would be 100% by the start of the season. He knows who he is.

We got plenty of "Dach's injury is a blessing in disguise, extra tank year and he'll come back 100%" posts too

Then remember that Dach was ready to come back at the end of last season and if the Habs were in the playoffs he would have played.

Looks a lot more like he had a terrible summer training and didn't take his recovery seriously after having missed so much time.

Agree WTK with one caveat. I am a Slaf pusher. Always have been. I don't know if he will ever be a line driver in the NHL. But what he is, is an incredible secondary piece on a top line. Mold him into a power forward, that when placed on the top line with a couple of stars, he makes them better, and they make him better. I don't think Slaf is meant to pull along dead weight, and that is okay. For him to thrive he needs to be on a line with better players than him who he can actually compliment and make better.

I think that makes sense.
He’s only 20. I agree with you, he can’t pull dead weight now. But imagine him in five years.

He was still racking up the points when he played with them though. What I'm saying he's not a line driver yet so he looks better because he's playing with people that can actually pass him the puck in space and move to the smart positions. He's more enthusiastic because he's more involved in positive plays, that's why you see him fired up after the goals.

I think you have to agree that Dach has held Slaf back to some extent, no? Dach has held back everyone he's played with. He's the 11th highest scoring forward on the Habs and he's still playing 2nd line minutes, Newhook is the only guy with less points.

Every line he played on included Dach except for the rare shift. Apart from that it was a short stint with Dvo and Gally wherein he played with hussle and got 3 points in 3 game, then it was back to Dach as Laine had just come back. His first 7 games with 7 points was on the 1st line. I might have missed one odd game or two without Dach.

Then I guess I must be wrong and he’s dominating out there

Again, the entire argument in favour of Dach is "oh he hasn’t shot it into his own net this game, that’s a step forward"
