He earned it last season. They should be left together until that magic is recreated and amplified.

Last season don't mean shit now, if he's an 8 million dollar player he should prove it on any line. This Club Med blullshit has been killing the club for 30 years. Pat Falloon had a good season once, so did Alex Daigle, Yakupov's first season was solid in Edmonton. Primetime money should mean delivering on your contract moving forward.

He isn't skating, hitting, making plays, shooting.. he's playing like an uninterested kid who is going to be rich no matter what. I hate these contracts. One year, and boooom here's a huge contract.

The contract hasn't started yet. We have no choice but to give him time to find his game again on the fist line. He was amaizing in the second half of last season. He's played only 148 games so technically he is still 16 games away from completing 2 full seasons. Could be a softmore slump. Let's see what he does for the rest of the season, things can change quickly, he looked pretty good last game.

Proof is always in the pudding, but Slafkovsky's 2nd half last season was more than just a flash. I'm fully confident he can find his rhythm again at some point. Ideally, he'd end up doing as much on a 2nd line with the same partners and we would see a first line -- going forward -- of Demidov - XXX - Laine.

Finding Mr. XXX to play C on the first line would be the difference between an ok hockey club going forward and a true contender, IMO.

And, no, I'm not talking about signing someone from the adult movie industry to play first line pivot.

The 2025 draft could be the most important draft of this rebuild.

If we somehow land Misa, we Ould be all set for the top-6 going forward.

Demidov - Misa - Laine
Caufield - Suzuki - Slafkovsky
XXX - Hage - XXX
XXX - Beck - XXX

That C-line would be something else!

They will take the Dman if given the chance, the team is allergic to having too much scoring. One would think Misa, Portone etc would be the obvious choice, but never put it past Kent to draft by position and f*** this team for another decade.

you forgot to mention that one time Galchenyuk scored 30 goals, and that was mainly in the second half of a losing season meaning teams took us for granted by then...
...wait a minute 🤔

Honestly, I understand thinking he will turn it around, that this is growing pain and whatnot, sure. That's plausible

But the "I have ZERO doubt" stance some of you have is a little wild tho. What do you mean you have zero doubt, are you seeing him play, are you new to this following team or something

When the good stretch is the outlier of his short career so far, there's pretty obvious concerns to be had

The chances of the best stretch of his career being at 19 years old is pretty unlikely. It's just doomer thinking.

AG was 21 by then though not 19. Also AG's problem was in between the ears not the skills. He easily had the ability to be a first line 30 goals and 60 points winger. AG having problems there doesn't mean all prospects we will draft until the end of time will have problem there too. The whole this prospect did not work out in the past therefore all prospects wont work in the future too is stupid.

AG had issues but his biggest problem was Therrien.

Geezus dude, quit your whining.

You treat every player on our team with a "what have you done for me lately" attitude. If Hutson has a slump next year will this season mean shit too?

You know development is not linear, you know players with his size and skillset take longer to truly breakout with consistency. You're just bitchin to bitch.

You are right, Slaf's regression in his third year is amazing and we should totally embrace his effort out there. I appreciate how he floats around with that stupid carefree look on his face and hangs his head in shame every third shift. Why would we expect effort if you are not putting up points? That's a wonderful process I never considered. I do not knock players that look like they give a shit. Cole Caufield is trying out there, Suzuki is trying, so are Arbs , Guhle and Hutson

I could give 2 shits about the losses, it's the horrific effort 3 out of 4 games.
'Development is not linear' - yeah, and without effort it isn't going to happen

Guy looks like he doesn’t give a f*** out there, much like the rest of the bums on this team

Looks like Drouin without the puck skills
