Exactly. Everything wrong with his game right now is correctable. It is in no way an issue with IQ, talent, etc. He's thinking too much out there.
He should’ve been put back with Suzuki and Caufield when he came back from injury, not being split up. He wasn’t completely 100% like he was last season but he was able to produce and his complete confidence would’ve been back sooner.

Gentlemen,

Imagine if you will,

A 1st OA pick who is NOT most dangerous not when he takes shots,

But when shots bounce off of him in front of the net.

Unfortunately he's the same player he was in Finland, and probably before that. The tools are there, but he sames totally lost at what his role is supposed to be on the ice - he will figure something out for stretches but like most low IQ players, as soon as he has to make a adjustment it all falls apart.

He's basically Joel Armia.

I hope he can figure it out but I don't see any reason to think he will, considering this is exactly the player Hughes and Bobrov drafted. Good interview though.

Why don't we allow him more time to develop. He's148 games in, technically that's still in softmore slump territory.
I concur. It's incredibly early in his career. He should be playing with Cole and Nick full time.
I know initially he put dach there to get him going but let dach and Laine play together with new hook. I care more about and have much higher hopes for slafs long term development and Laine is a big boy. He can stir the drink on that line.

Demidov with Laine and Misa will be fun 😊

Newhook- Hage-Dach as a third line is great depth

Newhook and Dach have been slumping. It can’t get worse for them. They’re perfect together. Maybe one of them will even figure it out.

yeah, he's like Armia. And when Demidov will be in a bad sequence, because it will happen too, he will be Namesnikov:facepalm::facepalm:

At 19, he outscored Armias career high by 20 points.

Still looks like he’s reacting to the play to me. He’s has a strong stride and reach so somehow he gets to pucks, but I feel his breakout will come when he’s moving his feet ahead of plays developing when he does take a step forward.

But knowing what we know now, would it be a good idea to sign it? What was the urgency to extend his contract last summer. It could have been done this spring.

When a 18-19yr old gets 50pts in 1 season, you don't second guess it.

You sign him to a long term 60 million dollar contract asap.
