The bridge contract logic doesn't make sense to me.

If we bridge him and hes awesome 3 years from now, we could realistically be paying him 4-5m or more a season from his age 24-29 years, when ideally we're supposed to competing for the cup. Think Nylander money, who signed for 13% of the cap. 3 years from now cap will be 100m+. If hes a superstar at 29 then we sign him to an 8 year deal in 2033 or whatever year that is.

If we bridge him and hes not awesome we likely overpay him for those 5 years in the 1-3 million range, but its not really going to matter because if our 1oa busts, we're not competing for anything anyway. And if he's mediocre who cares if we lose control of him at age 29.

This probably won't go over well but its time Slaf played 10 games in Laval. Play that lazy guy 24+ min a game. Give him so much ice time he pukes all over himself. That is the fix. Stop treating him like he is something special. He needs to be brought down a peg and honestly some humble pie will be good in the long run. Patches was in same situation as Slaf when we first came up. The problem is the current management doesn't have the ability to do the right thing. Kid need to learn to skate with his head up and not toe pic every 6 strides. That type of confidence can only happen in Laval. Most of the time you see him he is standing still or making one hand lazy plays.

There really is no point for him to play in Laval. When is the last time a team sent a 1st overall pick in the AHL after two full year in the NHL? People need to stop with the cooking thing. It's hockey not Hell's Kitchen. He's 20 years old there's nothing special about a 20 years old struggling at time and having bad sequences. That doesn't mean he will develop but he wont develop more in the AHL.

If he's mediocre he'll be traded before reaching 29. 5 years in his contract we will easily find a rebuilding taker to take a chance on a 25 years old 1st overall pick with size in exchange for future consideration even if he's paid 7 millions a year. At that point there will be 3 years left to his deal and rebuilding teams often have trouble reaching the floor with all their ELC contracts. So reaching the floor by taking a chance on a 25 years old Slaf makes sense. I mean we took a chance on a 25 years old mediocre Anderson even if he was going to be paid 5.5 millions a year for 5 years. 5 years from now the 7 millions Slaf is making will be about equivalent to the 5.5 millions Anderson was paid when we got him. The contract will not be an issue it's not high enough and most GMs dream of big wingers every nights.

I am so far from concerned about Slaf.

He will have to keep improving over the next 4 years. We know what he can be and he will reach it. Big guy like him take time to reach their full potential. What I always liked about Slaf is his character. He is a winner and he is really hard on himself. His personnality gonna make him a really good player and im sure Gorton and Hughes choose him 1st overall exactly because of his character.

So far he didnt play as good as he can be but he managed to get 13 pts in 19 games. He said himself he play like two good games this season.

I dont have any doubt that he will be a key piece if we win a cup in the next 5-10 years. Its ok that he experienced slump in his early carreer its gonna make him improve for the long run.

That's a 56 point pace.. we need to calm down a bit lol. He's had a slow start but the points are there, if he gets confident he could easily finish the year with 70 points.

With his missed games, he will likely still put 60+ points up. The breakout will likely have to wait another year.

Idk why but its a question of feeling with the players. Slafkovsky have this X factor in his mindset that gonna help him achieve his full potential.

In the opposite Joe Drouin has this lack of mindset that's why he never reach his full potential. I have to say that Dach looks like he lack this X factor to flourish into his full potential.

Its just a feeling but the character of a player will dictate if they fullfill their potential or they flop.

Slaf in my opinion has this aura that gonna push him to be the best version of himself.

Its hard to explain but im sure the Scout really look into that to rank players
