Concerning his shooting, I find that Slaf has shooted quite often to D in front of him. His shots are blocked quite often. It's not just the last game, it seems like his trend. I find his shooting decision poor; sometimes he should shoot more, but he doesn't, sometimes he shouldn't shoot, but he shoots.

Yeah last year it was problematic early on and got better as the year went on. Might be adjusting to speed and coverage adjustments.

Happened last year, hopefully we have not plateaued because it will be a cataclysmic disappointment.

While Slaf has not look great so far this season, I don't think there is a reason to panic. I think he looked better in his last two games despite the horrible outcomes for the team. He has only been on the ice for one goal against in the last 2 games and his puck protection was much better against Washington.

Just remember, last year it took him 29 games to get to 7 points. This year he had that after 7 games. He will get better as the season progresses. Hopefully the team will also get better, because right now it's a train wreck.

PS: As I was watching last night's game, I was wondering what was going through Slaf's head as he saw first Armia and then Dvorak get priority over him on a 5-on-3. I really don't get MSL sometimes.

He said what he cares is winning in an interview and not points. Points shouldn't be letting him off the hook on ways he can improve

He is also part of the problem. His pissed out attitude won’t help. Jut need to focus on his own play, and his line’s play.

He went chin-first into a board battle and got clipped. Those kind of hits can add up fast. Slaf needs to be smarter if he wants to have a long and successful career. I'm sure he'll get there, he has a natural drive to improve.

Assuming no update on Slaf yet. Also, regarding his performance so far. I still think he is playing injured. Pretty sure he isn't 100% healed from his last injury and likely won't unless given proper time off. They way things are going... might well give him that time. Don't think we are in da mix anymore.

That's always been the key observation regarding him by his detractors - excellent tools, no hockey sense, which is why he got lit up continually in his first season.

He better start to use his size because he isn't winning any awards for his finesse/skills.

He was largely drafted because of his size and the dominance that could come from that size along with his solid skill combo (but not elite skill).

I think he actually asserted himself more than the past few games against pitts. I hope he's okay.

Several times he drove to the net, he took good shots, etc

Just needs to keep doing that. He has to understand that he has the potential to control a shift, and he shouldn't be afraid to impost himself via his physicality AND his playmaking.

It was a dirty hit because the other guy knew he had Slaf in a vulnerable position. It's incumbent upon Slaf to not put himself in a position to get murdered. He's one of the biggest players in the league, he needs to act like it.

That's beyond the point, and I agree it was dirty. Yet Slaf made himself vulnerable by not leading with the shoulder.

It's not the first time he fails to use his body to protect himself. Slaf was probably the biggest guy on the ice at every level he played until he turned pro, and thus never really had to fear for his physical wellbeing.

Growing pains, he's a kid in a man's league.

He uses his size all the time. He’s developing really well.
