I don't disagree with the sentiment, but everyone is guilty of acting emotionally from time to time.

And making the bolded point with the tag line "Living in Your Head Rent Free" is a tad hypocritical.

Criticism and optimism are both allowed, but can be misplaced. Cynicism and... excessive... positivity can cause problems.

I'm also not sure what you're trying to say in that last sentence.

I think cynicism and optimism will depend on the individual and what they're reacting to, and everyone will have varying opinions to various management decisions and events.

The problem with some Habs fans is that when you criticize management decisions, they act like you punched their wife, because they're that invested, and they go full ad hominem immediately and I'm quite ok with living in their heads rent-free. Anyone that disagrees with me on anything that is willing to talk about ideas rather than insults gets respectful responses from me.

Unless you troll the tank thread :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I could see Slakovsky as a perennial 60-70 points player.

That’s possibly the low end of his potential at this point.

He’s learning how to use that big body, and he’s learning how to get the shot off too.

He’s now making his linemates better by the space he creates, insane for a 19 year old player.

This guy is something. Already 3 threads closed on the main board.
I never understood the desire to go to the main board and gloat about things, that's what Leaf fans do and it does nothing more than put fans in a position to be laughed at. We have a good thing on our hands in Slaf but there will be growing pains and possibly a few more years before he reaches his full potential, lets just enjoy the journey, good and bad and let's do it here.

Yeah, the main boards would be much more enjoyable without all the posters that desperately seek validation or vindication from other fanbases.

If posters didn't do that on the Hockey Talk board there would be no threads on that board. Don't know why the last Slaf thread was closed. There are 12 other worthless threads still going. Who gives a damn about a Tkachuk hat trick or a waste like Dakota Joshua?

Because a three point game vs a last place team isn’t threadworthy…

HF Habs and main boards should be mutually exclusive; if you start threads in one you shouldn't be allowed to start threads in the other

I always thought that Slaf would end up playing with Caufield and Dach. However, it's hard to imagine him away from Suzuki at the moment. This means that we will have to find wingers for our friend Dach when he comes back. I feel Newhook could be one of them. A better winger than center, with speed and decent goal scoring potential from what I have seen so far. Ideally, we would need a right-handed winger with size to complete that line. I think Cozens or Villardi would be amazing, although likely impossible to acquire. HuGo will need to make magic again to complete our top six. I don't think the draft will do it for us. We need to solve this asap. We cannot wait 4-5 years for a youngster to become good enough to complete the Dach line.

Not to re-ignite the debate because, IMO, it no longer exists.

But is it fair to wonder if he would have applied himself the same way he has in the NHL, had he gone to the AHL and had more success in a weaker league where he could get away with doing the things that he just couldn't do in the NHL?
He might have produced more points against weaker opposition as we saw him do against Anaheim but I think that one of the reasons he stayed in Montreal had more to do with the lack of talent here and the fact that we are rebuilding at the NHL level. They allowed him to learn here and struggle and things got better. MSL also moved him up to play with our best offensive players which is something we have failed to do in the past with promising young prospects and it helped his progression. Max Pacioretty asked to go there instead of getting limited minutes in the NHL and came back a better player so I guess there are examples of growth from being in the AHL.
