Do you think they're poking fun at our Stu?

Skinner seems like a cool dude, would love to have a beer with him. Just don’t want his ass between the pipes for us.

It is bar none the most important position on your team. If you have a top notch goalie your chances of winning go up tremendously, if you have a bottom feeder goalie you have to do so much right to make up for the deficiencies. Having 2 of the top players in the game and a pretty damn good roster this team would be winning cups with a top notch goalie, for the life or me I cannot understand why this is not addressed. You can get rid of other spots on the payroll and sacrifice elsewhere to upgrade the goalie. I do not get the spell Skinner has on these guys, it makes no sense. I m sure he is a nice guy but you don’t sink the ship because you like him. Jesus

If LA scored on an unscreened slow floater from the blueline last night with 40 sec to go, those same people would say "Why was that guy allowed to shoot from there"

There is zero accountability on the goalie. It was 5-5. You delete everything before this. Skinner did lose that game, contrary to what his fanclub keeps saying.

at 5-5, that goal cannot go in. Full stop. They do not understand this. They go back to "slow start". That is irrelevant when the game was tied.
You know what this exactly it. The entire team Skinner included played awful for the first 40. The game was reset at 5-5, what happened before that doesn’t matter. You have to make the next save, and the fact that was such a shitty goal is on him. You can blame the entire team for it being a 5-5 game, but the game winning goal was on him. Full stop.

I know everyone's pissed about the missed call on the punch to McDavid's head from Byfield but it really looked like McDavid threw a Messier style elbow to Byfield's head right before. I rewound it many times. Sure looked like it. He needs to be careful. Can't get suspended. Anyone else see it?
McDavid does get away with things every game I would say, but there is much more other teams get away with on him.

mcDavid could have been called for holding the stick on the Drai goal lol. He does that a lot and gets away with it

As usual though, the standard last night was one way for the most part.

How many times is the organization gonna say Stuart "lacks consistency" instead of just admitting he sucks. Like a mom hyping her deadbeat child. Really frustrating as fans we don't even want elite goaltending we just don't want this mustached sieve anywhere near the net. And pickard is clearly outplaying him this entire season so play Pickard, what a goddamn joke.

Here is a slower video I made of the goal.

Common sense. If a shot is coming and there is an opposing player DEAD IN FRONT OF YOU, the puck will hit him if it is going STRAIGHT.

This dimwit HAS TO MOVE HIS HEAD left or right to look around him and move his body left or right. NOT SIT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF Foegele. That is just logic.

Look at this confused idiot

I also love how Bouch is not even attempting to block the shot or cross check Foegele

Now that I've had a day to calm down, I needed to post my thoughts on this board... more as self-therapy rather than trying to elicit a response from any of you ;)

* Bouchard needs less playing time. He played arguably his worst game as an Oiler. He was directly responsible for the 3rd and 4th goals, and I would argue more responsible than Skinner for not clearing Foegele from in front of the net... He's literally just floating beside him.

* There was no fire or passion in the first 40 minutes of the game until Drai scored. Where is the urgency?

* McDavid, when he's on like he was yesterday, is undeniably the best player in the world. What an effort!

* Frederic must be still hurt because he was slow, didn't hit, and didn't bring any of the energy needed from him

* People were hating on Brown, and I get it, but Knob played him for a handful of minutes in the first 40 minutes... Put Dineen or Klinberg in if you aren't going to play him.

* We know what we have with Skinner, but he only let in 2 bad goals (the second and the last... but I think Bouchard's more at fault). Pickard got lit up for the same amount of goals the last time with played the Kings, so I don't have confidence he's better. I think we need to play Skinner one more shot before moving on to Pickard for the rest of the playoffs.

* We need Kane

This was the roster the Oilers iced. That’s borderline pre-season, so I’m not going to shit on Pickard too hard.

It's at the 1:50 mark with him literally having a smile about it also. That's why I get more annoyed with this guy and lose even more respect. You already suck in net but instead of having fire in your belly and taking ownership for playing terrible, here you are smiling about your former teammate Foegy and saying the GWG was indeed a rainbow like weak ass goal.

He had more angry emotions trying to break his stick (and failed) a couple weeks ago after getting pulled compared to talking about precious Foegy being a distraction and Danault's rainbow goal. f*** you, Skinner.
He just doesn't hate losing enough. I don't care if he is nervous, anxious, etc. This guy always gives off "Meh, whatever" vibes. To me, he is the complete opposite of a fiery competitor. Watch him start game 2 and bob his head to some music in the warm up lol.

Why the f*** was he looking left? There is no Kings player to his left and by the time he saw the puck fluttering over his shoulder he was still sliding left and looking left:laugh:. f*** he’s some kind of brutal. I’m sure Schwartz told him he had good positioning and that’s all that matters because he was beat clean by a tricky shot.

I'd say "add this photo to the dressing room to lit a fire under Stu's ass" for him to be better but Stu would rather look at the image, then proceed to look for a podcast or book on how to deal with people mocking mustaches.

Asking him to be at least average is like asking for a lotto max win at this point holy f***.
Skinner’s biggest problem and the reason he’ll never get better is because he thinks he’s playing well. You’re never going to light a fire under somebody’s ass when they don’t think they are an issue. He’s delusional and that’s why he’s so unlikable. It’s become obvious this season his teammates see it too and it’s probably become a locker room issue. I don’t see how the organization could justify not cutting the cord with this guy this summer.

Guy's 6'4 and somehow has to look left and get all puzzled that the puck is in. He would make a taller former goalie in Koskinen look bigger considering Schwartz made him play small af in net also.

f*** Dustin Schwartz.

Yeah, its been evident. Draisaitl's disgusted glare or even Perry + Derek Ryan comments after a loss that Sievenner was a main catalyst of. I see this team fight and play harder for Pickard when he's in net compared to the fat f*** who doesn't care about losing.

But what was the excuse for not addressing the net during this season? Look at what the Colorado Avalanche and GM Chris MacFarland did. They weren’t happy with Alexandar Georgiev and Justus Annunen’s play early on, so they went out and got Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood, not letting an acquisition cost including prospect Nikolai Kovalenko and a second-round pick deter them from their goal of pursuing a Stanley Cup this season. Colorado got some of the best goaltending in the league out of their new tandem from that point onward. The Oilers got some of the weakest overall goaltending in the NHL all season.

You can’t walk into a postseason as a true Stanley Cup contender with a team that finished 19th in save percentage at .897 this season – especially after the same two netminders gave you just a .904 combined mark the season before and a .902 postseason SV% during your run to Game 7 of the Final.
It was glaringly obvious that the Oilers needed to improve their goaltending even it meant getting creative with their cap space, and they failed to do it. The letdown of Game 1, in which they controlled 54.67 percent of the 5-on-5 expected goals and still lost, is on the front office. They’ve made their bed.

How many high danger shots is this team going to allow per game? Skinner isn't good enough to handle the barrage himself, but what was it again? 14 HD shots against?

Is Skinner the guy to take us on his back? Hell no. He plays exactly like Mike Smith, with less lateral movement. Plays big, isn't technically as sound and gives up easy goals that kill momentum.

With that said, maybe play a game that's more structured in the back end? Some back checking forwards? Some actual team defense?

Management failed us big time this season with staying the course. We have two beer league all-stars in net, if we're being honest. But the team in front is absolutely abysmal as well. Like I said in the main thread, blaming everything on Skinner is just lazy. We know his skill set, he's not it. 14 HD shots is pathetic for the group in front.

You want to give up 14 HD chances? You better make up 14 of your own to have any chance at winning here. Play awful defense, at the very least play some stellar offense.

That and Bouchard is a massive liability. f***ing awful, and he has been all season.
