Post-Game Talk: The Sieve We Know

The officials kind of set the tone of the game with the first penalty to the Oilers again. I'm going to bet this happens at least 70% of the time, which is enough to tilt the table. They are often chasing the game as a result.

Now that I've had a day to calm down, I needed to post my thoughts on this board... more as self-therapy rather than trying to elicit a response from any of you ;)

* Bouchard needs less playing time. He played arguably his worst game as an Oiler. He was directly responsible for the 3rd and 4th goals, and I would argue more responsible than Skinner for not clearing Foegele from in front of the net... He's literally just floating beside him.

* There was no fire or passion in the first 40 minutes of the game until Drai scored. Where is the urgency?

* McDavid, when he's on like he was yesterday, is undeniably the best player in the world. What an effort!

* Frederic must be still hurt because he was slow, didn't hit, and didn't bring any of the energy needed from him

* People were hating on Brown, and I get it, but Knob played him for a handful of minutes in the first 40 minutes... Put Dineen or Klinberg in if you aren't going to play him.

* We know what we have with Skinner, but he only let in 2 bad goals (the second and the last... but I think Bouchard's more at fault). Pickard got lit up for the same amount of goals the last time with played the Kings, so I don't have confidence he's better. I think we need to play Skinner one more shot before moving on to Pickard for the rest of the playoffs.

* We need Kane

Well we were blaming Knob for deploying a tired McDavid when he should've locked it down defensively to take us to OT. You blamed McDavid, then clarified that it was Knob's fault, which good on you for doing. Ultimately though, it was the kind of shot that Skinner should be expected to stop, and he didn't.
I said from the start.. literally the next line after I said McDavid mistake in my original post. I literally said I give them a pass because they shouldn’t have been out.

I think we should do the opposite of normal - go nuclear then split them up if/when we get a lead.

We couldn't generate anything with them apart, then started to right when they came together around the middle of the 2nd. Put them together, get a goal or two lead, then back them off and try to roll 4 lines in the most boring fashion stylistically possible. If we play safe hockey the Kings aren't going to be able to generate much, just need to establish the lead to get our game there.
I agree 1000 percent play them together to start the damn game so we don't fall behind

Pickard had NO support when we played the Kings the last 2 times. Plus the LA crowd doesn't have a chant for Pickard and I am sure it would only give him more power if they did. Oh and the Kings played really really dirty games for those Pickard starts which resulted in Nurse doing stuff for once. We do not see that same fire when it comes to the team defending Skinner. Just a thought.

The winning goal! Watch the replay. Do people actually think Skinner can see that puck, knuckle or otherwise. I see nothing but Foegele in his windshield and Bouch playing his bodyguard. Danault shots an off-speed thru the screen from the slot and no forward appears in the picture til after the red light. 100% on Skinner! Wow!
I hope they’ve don’t start Skinner next game. Maybe when they leave Pic on an island for a goal he can walk down the bench suggesting his mates get their head outta their ass!
I don't know why the second paragraph of your post didn't show up until I quoted is weird.

Its Skinners fault that he can't see the puck. If he was on his feet trying to look around the screen the puck would have fricken hit him.

Pickard was playing his second consecutive game behind five D-men.....

Pickard got lit up last game against LA with no Drai, Frederique, Walman, RNH etc. Not the same roster

Fair enough... but I think McDavid and Drai must have said something in the locker room during the second intermission about stepping up and defending each other, because we saw Drai yell on the bench just before the break. I bring this up because Wahlman comes out of nowhere with unwarranted aggression twice, and I'm sure he was just trying to address the "lack of passion" feeling.

In both of Wahlman's plays, he was defending Skinner's crease, so I'm not sure the team isn't willing to step up for Stu.

That LA game where Pickard was really dirty and really not a proper NHL game - but I'm just saying that we don't have great goalie options, and switching Skinner up after 1 game is premature (he took us to game 7 of the SCF last year!)

Has Skinner ever taken accountability of his bad games? Not even once?

I guess it's easier to say the team needs to play better than he needs to play better
he is not a very bright guy, and will never accept accountability or even know better, in his world a loss means " the team has to play better defensively" or like " the team has to skate better with their legs" lol ,

Mattias Ekholm might be the most underrated player in the league, certainly the most underrated dman.

I don't think EDM has a shot in the dark even in this round without him.

They are str8 pretenders without that dude back there, when you consider the backstop and rest of the 'defense'ive players in that group.

More like God-mode McD, Drai in the earlier rounds, the PK, and Pickard saving his ass against Vancouver helped to drag him there kicking and screaming, but sure, let's credit that to the guy with the worst save percentage to make it to the SCF in the cap era. And the worst to "win" a series.

These dumb imbecile human beings said at the trade deadline presser that their own analytics tell them that sieve Skinner is better than what we see.

LMAO

It's like they live in an alternate universe. Clowns. I have such a low bar for these guys, that it would not shock me if they sign Skinner to a 5 mill deal.

There/are media members on the radio this year that kept saying he will get up to 6 million.

Do these guys all take the same drugs? If they do that, you go jump ship Connor
Well if that happens or when it happens, I will have a new team to cheer for, the one McDavid goes to

The Kings know Stu as well as they know any goalie. Look at some of the goals. On PP Kuzmenko slotting in on an extreme close in pass shot goal. So close in its ridiculous because they know Skinner won't spot it, won't be there, and doesn't use his stic for anything and will be deep in net.

2nd goal Byfield has all day to bank that off Skinner slow to sealing post.

Third almost goal Foegele hits Bouchard skate instead of puck going in on open net.

4th almost goal Kuzmenko on a wrap doesn't manage to tuck clean and the puck goes to mid net where it hits Skinners pad. Theres two feet open to tuck that puck in.

3rd goal Kempe just makes a standard move to backhand tuck to easily change angle and beat Skinner clean. Like he can do that in his sleep.

4th goal? Unstoppable. Nobody makes that stop.

5th goal From LA broadcast: " Skinner didn't see the pass across," lol everybody else in the rink saw it.

6th goal. disaster.
Even Reid was saying how badly Skinner played that 5th goal. What I found hilarious from the talking heads was one person though goal “x” was bad, the second talking heads would chime in and say “that one was fine goal Y was bad”- the. They’d both agree Skinner was fine. I laugh at the irony of these two saying Skinner was fine while arguing about which goal was bad…lol

That third goal- did you see Skinner just slide right on by past his net? Kempe didn’t need to backhand tuck it- he could have just waited for Skinner to slide right past him. What a turd of a goalie

Bouchard makes literally any other play and the puck doesn’t go in. There’s no reason whatsoever to flip a backhand pass in front of your own net. Like look at the player who scored, not a soul within a country mile.

I'm not going to waste thousands of words arguing over the severity of Bouchard's mistakes... You want to call it a Cory and Trevor level f***-up, sure, but when his mistakes don't lead to a Grade A and it still goes on, well, I'm sorry, now that's on Stu.

The worst Skinner post game comments came when they played Florida this season. Threw his dmen under the bus. On another goal- he actually said “no goalie in the NHL stops that”.

Rishaug called him out on his comments too

A wide open shot from the slot isn’t a grade A chance? Again, why absolve literally every other player? He turned the puck over into the best spot to score on the ice. If literally every goal against is his fault and his fault alone I hope you apply the same standards to Pickard as well.

It's at the 1:50 mark with him literally having a smile about it also. That's why I get more annoyed with this guy and lose even more respect. You already suck in net but instead of having fire in your belly and taking ownership for playing terrible, here you are smiling about your former teammate Foegy and saying the GWG was indeed a rainbow like weak ass goal.

He had more angry emotions trying to break his stick (and failed) a couple weeks ago after getting pulled compared to talking about precious Foegy being a distraction and Danault's rainbow goal. f*** you, Skinner.
I’ve said it a number of times before- guy thinks he is out there for Sunday night casual hockey. He has no competitive bone in his body. You look at Pickard- a guy gifted with limited athletic ability and skill- he is fighting for every damn inch.

I blocked that poster you’re replying to…it’s a waste of time using words or energy
